Opening day was a success. Saw 5 different bucks including one shooter that got around me at 65 yards. Saw a bunch of does, most shootable. I decided to go straight to hunting my hitlist bucks rather than shooting a doe. Also saw a big Tom turkey. He saw me too... the lease I was at didn't have signal so I could check in "live" but I just got home. So that's my update. The deer were extremely active. Yes, yes I know I'm late to the party. I'm sad about it too. Congrats to everyone who shot something today. Here was my morning setup. Didn't take my phone in the evening. Biggest buck of the day was a 3 years old 130ish nice 10. I was hunting a by water with an island woods and skinny foodplot and it worked out well. I wont be back to that spot until next weekend. In a tree waiting for deer. Action down here has been very slow. 68 and very humid so far. Checked cameras yesterday. A few does and small bucks and lots of hogs. Good luck to those who are lucky enough to be hunting this morning.
