Happy New Year gentlemen! Haven’t been out since a couple days before Christmas. As soon as my vacation ended the cold weather set in and I’ve hardly had any time to think about hunting. Worked all weekend, 13 hrs on Friday, 16 hrs on Saturday, & 12 hrs today (Sunday). I love me some Winter but hate having to work out in it!!

It was -7 with -30 windchill this morn......my bed was nice and cozy. I’m a wuss. Lol. I might go try to call in a coyote tonight though. Time to dust off the 22-250

Scouted/Squirrel hunted the friend’s farm. Squirel hunting was a bust for my boys. It is a 40 Acre woodlot surrounded on all side by about 200 acres of whatever crop leftovers are from the fall. Not sure what was planted. Most of the trails looked to be in the south west corner of the wood lot. This also where the cover seems the thickest. Did find the landowner’s two treestands and ground blind. I think I can hunt it with the right wind without messing them up. Not sure if I will actually get a chance or not but it is another option.

Out in the blind. Last day of the season here. Looking for a doe with the muzzleloader. You realize how out of shape you are when you have to walk through 18” of snow. Good luck to anyone else who is out. [IMG]

We were busy playing hockey on the pond, so I didn't hunt. Of course, as soon as we get inside there are 14 deer in the picked corn. No shooters, but deer anyway.

He’s 10 and looking for his first deer. The deer have been in this area daily! He almost had a 4pt yesterday, just needed a couple more seconds to get the crosshairs settled.

Season is over. Too much kids sports this week to get out to hunt. Had a heck of a time this season. Good luck to all of you still hunting. Scouting starts Sunday.

Well guys I didn’t even post that I was in the stand today but I snuck out after work it was a balmy 10 degrees so I thought I would sit for the last hour or so with the snow on the ground, about 20 minutes left of light and I look in the hollow behind me where it is thick as crap, saw a doe standing there, and another behind her, I was out for our primitive deer season so I took the flintlock so I could shoot buck or doe with my tag, archery I could only shoot a buck. Anyway I raised up the flintlock and shot and the both of them took off one with the tail down so I thought for sure I hit her, went down and couldn’t find blood at all, was about to give up and I found a couple of hairs(thank god there was snow) anyway I trailed pin drops of blood through the snow for about 60 yards and found her! Very excited this is my first ever flintlock kill!!! [IMG]
