Buddy here in Virginia saw a brute chasing does tonight. The secret life of bucks. Never predictable. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
Beautiful evening here. Had deer moving all around and saw a 6 and 4 point about 445. Also heard some sparring. Couldn't believe it. Then some coyotes moved through as I was getting down. Sent from my SM-G935V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Well only saw 1 doe tonight. A long weekend of hunting has come to the end. It sure is hard to take the bow day after day after a long lull of no bucks. BHOD.
I have seen them chasing all the way at the end of december back when I was stationed in VA. Crazy when you think the rut was over and then you see it happen. BHOD!
Copy and pasting from my Facebook because I’m lazy and don’t want to retype it... Ok so here’s the details. Hunted my lease this morning and seen absolutely nothing. Decided to hit public ground this afternoon to a spot we have been many times. Got there and ran into some people my buddy knew and they told us about a different public spot that had fresh cut corn...so off we went. Got there about 330 and scoped it out a little from maps and such, instantly pretty well knew where I wanted to set up. In side corner with the wind in my face. Walk in and get set up just off the field in some brush and on top of and old rail bed, so was raised about 10ft higher than the field. Sat until last light and my buddy texted he was headed to the truck so I started to pack up. Got everything ready to go and I see a deer come out of the brush about 100 yds across the field. Instantly drop to the ground behind the brush and unhitch my pack and stuff. Get set up and use an old railroad tie for a rest. Trying to decide if I wanted to shoot since it was getting dark, but still legal time. Deer started heading my way at a trot, closed to within I’d say 30-40 yds, broadside with not a care in the world. Made the shot, he dropped instantly, then tried to get up but his front legs wouldn’t work, blew out both shoulders. Ran across the field to catch up to him, and how I didn’t hit vitals I don’t know, entrance was right behind front should and blew out offside shoulder. I put another slug in him just to finish him off quickly. This being public land and no prior scouting, I’m more than happy with this buck. All in all it was a good day of hunting spent with a great friend. Now just gotta Work on getting him on a deer... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It's ironic that you used a railroad tie for a gun rest. Congrats! Pics? Blessings.......... Pastorjim Sent from my RCT6703W13 using Tapatalk
Even more ironic is it belonged to the railroad many many years ago that became the railroad I work for now... I wouldn’t be surprised if my company actually still owns it... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
What a great night. My son shot a great buck sitting with Fletch. I will post a picture and story when I get home. Thanks again Dave
