We had 3' of snow on the ground last year by this time. We got a dusting tonight, but it's going to melt tomorrow. It's nice to see some grass in December. Last winter, we broke our record for longest number of consecutive days with 12" or more of snow on the ground and it was from the end of November until the middle of April. Winter was too long last year. And with any year, by the time January comes, I'm over the white stuff.
VS is working on that idea. We talked about a BHOD hat that would get passed around. Sent from my SM-N900V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Hats get pretty dirty and gross, and people leave the forum, too, so it's likely you'd see the hat 2 years at most. You can do deer trophies on Amazon and they engrave them: https://www.amazon.com/QuickTrophy-Deer-Trophy-8-Basic/dp/B01G7F2WJ8/
That looks pretty good! Too bad you're tagged out. Sent from my SM-N900V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I like this and everyone could pitch in to get it and ship it. Or what about a big plaque with name plates and year?
Heading to my river bottom stand. Had a nice cold front come through, 52 yesterday 28 this morning. Good luck to everyone.
Crawling my tired sore body to the old warriors bedroom. 18 days left, time to get aggressive. Good luck to everyone that is out this morning.
Checking in from the stand , good news didn't bump anything on the way in and it's almost 20 degrees colder this morning. Good luck out there guys.
Good morning from the tree. Bumped a deer on the way in this morning half of a snort and a white flag. It was kinda dark out But I'm here Let's get this late season started with a bang. For VS. KILL
Well already had an early morning sparring match back off to my right. 1 of the bucks cut across 100 yards in front just light enough to make him out.. He was small 4 or 6pt . Never saw the other he went behind me in the creek way to dark to even see him.
Last chance before the orange army shows up in the morning. May make it out. Was out for 3+ hours last evening. Nothing moving till I got back to the road. Had a steel pipe frame gate held with chains to open or go over. Spotted 2 deer 200 yds ahead down over a slight hill eating in hay ground. Only chance would be to get to the row of large hay bales across this road. As long as I stayed low they would not see me. Every try to open a steel pipe gate with chains to hold them closed without making a sound. Don't happen. One link touches a pipe and just as well be ringing a school bell. Needless to say both deer went bounding back towards the timber. Before next bow season which is Dec 18th, those gates will be held shut with rope and the chains will be taped up to the gate so quite in and out is possible. 20/20 hind sight.
Hmmm what to do? The property I got that buck pic (where I am now) I usually abandon post rut/late season. Usually shuts down and there is next to no food. However I know he's here. My buddy text me and said they are finally cutting acres and acres of corn on surrounding properties of my late season land that I've been hunting until today. Tough one. I think I might have to go back there for a few days while they've been forced in the woods and the dinner bell ringing
I'm definitely, proud to be, on this list! Sent from my SM-N900V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
They won't stray very far from that picked corn, I assure you on that! Sent from my SM-N900V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I’m all set up this morning. What tactics would you guys recommend? I was hoping to maybe call in a late rut buck if I was lucky. Do you think rattling might still interest them? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
