2nd sit of the year for me. Sitting on a saddle ridge between bedding and food. Hopefully they move early today

Well, lets try setup #2. 3 does and a young buck came in, blew and took off. At least it was early. Not sure if they saw me or smelled me, I think the first. Ugh, hate hinting on the ground. Maybe Wednesday I should take the time to move a stand, but only have a couple days left to hunt. [IMG]

Frustrating night. Shot busted once by the small 6 and 3 does, so I moved. Much better concealment, 4 does and the shooter 8 came in. Does blew, I am not sure if at the decoy or my scent, sure didn't see me. Buck hung out for a bit but eventually slunk off.

This is the first year ive gotten back into bow hunting in 4 or 5, never had time in residency. Frustrating, I've had lots of shots at does and small bucks; the big boys have been so cagey.

I'm just getting back into it myself after several years and feel your pain. It's been a frustrating season for a good buck. The one beast I had close gave me no shot and then never found blood on the one I did shoot at. Still love it and to say I'm obsessed is a complete understatement. I just hope I get some time when they are moving and get an opportunity. Stay with it man.

I wish the weather would cooperate. Just a little too warm to hunt Turkey day morning and let one hang untip the next day.

By season next year I will have one of teo things. A homemade hanging cooler or a fridge in the garage. Have a side by side right now and they are terrible for holding quartered deer. Need an over under for that.

Going to try amd get out this weekend. Really want a doe for some real good eats and turn some of the buck steaks into some jerky over the next year.

Would you cool the hanging cooler in the garage with an air conditioner? I've thought about building one, too, but the air that comes out of an air conditioner smells weird and I'm not sure if it would make the meat taste strange.

A lot of people do it, use a coolbot to get optimal temps. Size probably determines a lot of it but I use a window unit in my bedroom overnight during the summer to save the centeal air a bit. Don't really notice a smell, but might be used to it I guess.

I'm leaning towards getting a wide one with the freezer drawer below. Double doors up top. Probably rig a system to be able to hang quarters or at least lay them separately.

looks like deer in my area are already moving to late season patterns. seeing big groups hanging out in peoples' yards eating their bushes. seems early for that.
