Not saying that is a good shot Dan, but I hit mine in about the same spot this year. It took us 2 days but we found him, in the creek.
It's an awful shot. No other way around it. I know he will die just not sure when. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
Back out with the wind in your favor and come back tomorrow. That deer will not go far hit like that. Give him time and you will find him dead tomorrow!
Wish I was closer, have the entire weekend off as of 4:30 today and can't hunt. Hopefully he beds down quick and doesn't get up more than 3 or 4 times. How close is the nearest water source. Betting if he survives long enough he will be headed in that direction. All you can do now is start jotting everything down and start mapping a plan on some aerial maps. Maybe download hunt stand or something that will show your live location. Plot some way points tonight on where you want to check and then mark where you have checked as you are on the track tomorrow.
I have not heard any news from the guy that stayed down there so I'm guessing no luck. But thank you!
I hear ya, that's something Lee Lakosky would have on his land Sangamon county, less than 15 minutes from where I live
Not saying one way or another, but in MO you can look for a wounded deer, but you have to keep the dog on a leash. I can see why it is illegal, you give one person the idea that it is ok, then the next thing you have is people pushing deer with dogs.
I noticed that when our deer made a slight or aggressive up hill path the blood came out pretty handily, when he went down hill it practically stopped. There was quite a bit of blood up on twigs, grass, buck brush and the like about 2- 2 1/2 feet off the ground. If I was in Kirksville with family, I'd be there helping!!
Good luck Dan, looks like a giant Really bummed that this is my last day here for a while. The spot I'm at now is amazing
