I'm on the ground with the decoy. Just had 2- forkhorns come through and posture up. Heard them messing with a doe for a while.
Was expecting a bruiser, pretty intense.
    Still got some time

Been on stand for an hour. One hour until dark. Last day of bow I can hunt before gun season. Here in Michigan it runs the 15th until the end of the month. Taking the 16th off of work because the wind sucks for 2 stands I want to hunt. Wearing orange for a couple weeks. :bigcry:

    Deer Mr squirrel president,

I would like to offer you and all your citizens in my hunting woods an all expense paid vacation. I have heard Australia is very nice this time of year and would highly recommend it. If you are to take me up on this offer I would also like to pay for a shark feeding excursion.

Please get back with me ASAP.

    Yours sincerely

    Englishman

Well fun with the neighbors continues. Just decided out of the blue to run up and down property line 4 or 5 times hauling ass on a 4 wheeler. I'm not even by that area but could hear and see him from where I am. Can see my truck where I park when I come out but hey maybe after the whole deal with the gate and taking my cam down and throwing its just a coincidence.

They are about 1/2 done with combining our corn, and the deer are already piling out in to it.

The last night was exciting. I had a little 7 point come in with a doe and a button buck. And then a shooter ran 80 yd away and joined the chase. Wish he had met up with them when all three were 10 yards in front of me. Dang, so close.

So here is the story. A few years ago in the off season I found what appeared to be a dynamite doe bedding area in 16f. Big time buck sign...but the last two seasons that same buck sign has been non existent. I left a trail cam out there for 3 weeks...looked at it today and only 1 buck had used an awesome saddle near that bedding. I crossed it off the list and walked out and drove to another bedding area a half mile away. I remembered a creek crossing and the way the wind was blowing I figured bucks would be working the far steep hill and cross over the creek to come to the other bedding area (had never hunted that spot just guessed).

Get set up at 1. 245 I see antlers coming down the hill and he crossed right over the creek cross. There are a bunch of huge trees blown down and I was set up where those trees would funnel deer to me within 20 yards. He is at 30 and closing when he decided to duck under a big ass tree and hook left out of my cover funnel. He starts walking right into the damn thicket and I have 5 yds to shoot or he is gone. I make and noise to stop him and just release. Arrow hits true and he hits the deck and dies quick.

I've had some awesome mature buck encounters this year. More this year than the last 3 to 4 yrs combined. But this buck means a ton. Hunted 13 out of the last 14 days.

2 yr old buck but I'm thrilled. Back at it in the morning.
