Saw nothing this morning, planning a all day sit Friday weather permitting. It will be the last day of archery until the 8th or something like that. So I’ll be joining the orange army for a couple weeks. It will also be my daughters first season to be able to take a deer with a gun.

Its a slippery slope.. some areas have too many and some dont have that many. If they are not careful they will hurt the population everywhere and kill them off in some areas. Illinois is more about money than healthy populations (deer included).

Saw 9 this morning. First hunt of my vacation. Hunted from the ground and had a doe at 3 yards. That was cool. Passed a young 8point. He was knocking on 130 I'd say but he was extremely young. Saw an absolute toad but never saw what his headgear looked like. He was 150 yards from me with a doe and I couldn't get him to leave her. He was running around grunting at her.my buddy had a good buck do the same thing late last week so I'm going to take the lone wolf up there tomorrow I think

Ok got some real action now, got a nice buck running around and making a lot of noise. Seen his antlers for a split second and I like what I was seeing although it wasn’t a proper look. He ran off at about 100yds and it went quite.

Ugh, if they'll let me take 2 weeks rutcation next year I cannot use any new vacation time after March 9th. I'll have one week at tht point.

Might have to forgo mushroom season and just use 3 day weekends for that.

Glad I put that cam out. Only pics for 5 days in late Oct. I found some big tacks leading from thick cover creek cross. Prob this buck....but he hasn't traveled that saddle for 2 weeks....

Moved to a bedding area half mile away. Much better sign. Working a creek cross from high ground buck bedding into a a thicket

Down to my last 4 hunts.

This is a little list of things I would like to happen while deer hunting.
    - have deer bed around me for 2+ Hrs
    - see 2 bucks have a real fight
    - get a clean 8p & 12p 130”+ buck
    - get a double drop tine buck
    - get a buck with a fucked up rack, no size restrictions just if I like it.
    - of course a B&C with a bow.

    Already off my list
    - deer mating
    - clean 10p 142”
    - kill a midday buck

ohh you said a dirty word... :poke: You could kill a messed up B&C with a double drop that just bedded around you for 2+ hrs and then got in a real fight just before you shot him......
