1 year ago was a very memorable hunt. Had seen a giant of a buck the previous day, he didn’t like what I was offering so had to watch him walk off. Almost cried. Go back the next day to same stand after work. Used a scent drag on the way in and circled behind my stand and hooked around where the deer the previous day came out of the creek and back around to the front of my stand. Climb in the tree. Get everything set up. Hit the grunt, rattle a little, and instantly have a buck running my way. Hits the scent and comes in on a string. At first I said nope. Not a shooter. But he just kept reading the playbook, and it got the heart to pumping, and it had been 3 seasons without a buck. He hit a perfect lane where I tied off the scent drag, drew back and whack...he made it about 30yds and heard him crash... total hunt time, 12 mins.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
after getting caught up reading 25 pages looks like some ups and downs for some. keep at it guys. a little update on the doe I shot. I walked over to her and she was a rack of bones. huge body but no muscle. I looked at her teeth and they were all gone. she was living on grass and apples. her body had consumed all of her fat and was now eating her muscles. I realize I did her a favor by ending her life because she wasn't going to make the winter. taxi aged her teeth and she is 8+yrs old. ive never seen a deer this old.
No. I'm hunting inside the city limits. No guns here. Sent from my SM-N900V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Successful hunt last night. My stands have been off mark of all the deer by 60 or 80 yards most of the year, so yesterday I got in there around 2pm and moved my stand about 100 yards up a fence line where they have been going into a field right around dark. Had 5 does come through around 4:40. I think most of them caught a whiff of me as I was sweating pretty bad from moving the stand. Then at 5 a doe come through with a nice 8 right on her tail. She came right to my stand, looked up twice at me and bolted by. The buck came right to my stand looked up and walked right on by nose to ground. Stopped him about 15 yards. He was quartering away pretty hard. Let an arrow fly. He jumped, ran 60 yards and fell over. I'm a happy Hunter. He was #3 on my list of deer I liked.
Had a spike walk 30yds by my right and 5 min later a doe 30yds out in front been 10min and nothing followed.

Nothing here since the small buck at first light. I don't get it. They should be going crazy right now? Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
