Hunted all day today. Morning just had a small buck a doe cruise by about 60 yards. I was too cold to post from the stand. Afternoon hunt I climbed a tree because the wind died down slightly. Saw 4 doe right off the bat and had a solid 8 come in less than 20 yards but never had a good shot. Best I had was front shoulder quartering to in a tight window. I was drawn back twice and had to let down before he finally walked away. About 20 mins later I had a smaller 8 come in but it still got me excited so I wanted to shoot him. 32 yards steep angle I fired and heard what sounded like a hitting a tree. He trotted like 10 feet and then walked off slowly like nothing happened. After dark I climbed down and no trace of my arrow. Strangely enough I found the broad head right where the buck was standing. It was broken off at the base with no part of the arrow connected. No blood on it and nothing where he was standing. I really wanted that first buck I saw! Not sure when I’ll be out next but I’ll definitely be following along. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You have yourself a dead buck Alen. That's an insane mule kick. The buck I shot on October 28th did the same thing. Thought I got little penetration but the arrow hit the offside shoulder and like almost bounced. He went 150 yards and peeled over but had great blood all the way. Was looking for something on the counter, moved Thursdays mail and there layed all of my deer permits. Guess it is a good thing I didn't shoot something yesterday.
