Maybe after the mule kick when he ran away it was sticking out. Got way more penetration than he thinks and when it mule kicked somehow worked the arrow back out the entry and that is when he seen it sticking way out.

Alen, did you see the nock still lit when he ran off?

Ugh, I can't sleuth anymore. It's 6 hours 25 minutes until the alarm goes off.

The only thing I can usually remember after the shot is, I think I shot my bow, wait, did I shoot my bow?

I thought I remember Alen saying the deer's leg was sticking out as he ran off. At that shot angle the arrow could've easily ended up low on the off shoulder causing a bending issue.

I'm with ya, I am usually thinking, "Holy crap Holy crap! I just shot a deer!":chewy: After having those thoughts bounce around in my head for a minute or two I am like "Now I am supposed to watch where he ran, oh wait he's gone. "

I actually had to climb back in stand to figure out where my deer was standing when I️ shot him... I️ could not find point of impact to save my life once I️ was on the ground... thought I was losing my damn mind...

I keep an orange bottle of Dead Down Wind field spray in my pack. After losing sight of the deer, I toss it as close to where the deer was standing as I can for a reference point to look for blood.

I always tell my students that if they have to make stupid mistakes that they should pick ones that won't totally screw up their lives. PETA girlfriend and Sitka skinny jeans is really pushing the line though.

Just caught the video of alenhards shot. Definitely looks like arrow flew erratic and was not squared up at impact. I’m surprise it got the 6-7 inches of penetration it did. What a gut wrenching ordeal. Sounds like you got at least one lung though. Good luck man I’d say that deer will expire if I️ had to lay money down.
