I'm not trying to be goody-two-shoes, but the mental stress of not shooting goes away much quicker than wounding one and not finding it. Jus sayin. Sent from my SM-G930V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
They are moving. Just at a big 8p pass at 70yds walking away so I grunted and he comes down the trail. I’m a full draw and he stops at 40yds behind a tree. After about a minute he turns and walks away. I tried calling but he carried on walking away. Hope he has circled around.
Just a reminder to everyone to CHECK THE STAND EVERY TIME YOU GET IN. I know of a couple guys who have gotten hurt from faulty straps and I have had 3 deer run off this morning because a strap on my stand wasn’t tight.
Here was my shot window. Sun wasn't out so I didn't see the little sticks in the 2 ft high window. Probably could have fed one. I gear you foodplot. I wasn't comfortable. He had already bedded down bc he smelled me and no wind was moving yet. My hands had been out for like 20 min bc I was using my bow to create some cover bc he was looking for me. Hunting another or hour so and then headed home to hang with kids. I need a break from the woods. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
It is raining leaves! Haven't seen the supposed bruiser yet. He was spotted around 10 am tho so I'm hoping he somehow sticks to the routine. At least that's what I keep telling myself. It's cold. Sent from my SM-G935V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Well best sit out of last 4. Big doe come out of creek. Started blowing then went back and out other side. Then coon went up a tree.
Gotta remember why I'm out here. I've already killed two does before my vacation began. I'm out here pursuing some cagey public land bucks. I've had 7 encounters. My best year ever so far. They are whipping my tail. I've already lost 5 lbs the past two weeks. Lol. Giving it all I got. Thanks for listening to the occasional whining. Lol. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
That is what we are all here for. I was whining yesterday before my doe came in. We all need help anyway! Takes a special kind of crazy to sit in a tree, or blind, or ground and wait to try to kill an animal for fun! Then when you do, the works really begins? I question my thought process often throughout the day, then BAM that twig breaks,or leaf shuffles, and the excitement makes it all good again!!! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Give it one more sit there in the next day or two, I bet you will get him. I wouldn't give up on that area. Back off about 30 yards down wind from were you are. I bet he will be right back in there.
I'm gonna reposition to a tree 30 yds away. That should put me down wind and have good cover. This wind is terrible right now. Hot doe. No other bucks following= they are smelling me. Will try again on Monday if the area is open. Thanks man. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
Finally saw some rut activity this morning. Not sure how long I can take the cold and wind though. 22 w/ 20-30 wind2 little bucks pushing does around.. Sent from my XT1710-02 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Well S*#t...I just blew a chip shot on the 10 point. 18 yd shot, I think I shot underneath him. There is hair at the point of impact and what looks like fat on my broadhead and arrow shaft. No blood at all... Sick to my stomach right now...
I know I have read others say it has happened to them but a first for me.. was looking down at my phone when I guess a buck high tailed it across the field to my decoy.. I heard a faint grunt and looked up in time to see him stopping at 20 lol I don't know if I would have shot or not but it sucked getting busted by the phone. Sent from my SM-G935U using Tapatalk
