Let what ever processor you know you are looking for one, bet there will be someone that brings in a decent buck that doesn’t want theirs...

Sleds works wonders. I always sled mine just for the ease of movement if nothing else.

Several years back I tried dominant buck urine .
I had a buck I was sure was only coming through at night . Put out the dominant buck urine to maybe stick around in the day time . Never saw the buck but it sure got his curiosity . He tore the area up .
It got to be kind of funny . Id bury a soaked wick or hide it in brush and he'd dig it up and destroy the brush around it

You just reminded me of another funny from today.

The processor I use used to be based in a small farm town, last year they moved their operation into the big city. Well, their hired hands are now city folk and not the corn and potato fed workers. And this time ofbyear itnis seasonal help so even worse I think.

We unloaded the buck and I had to convince the guy with the electric bonesaw I wanted a skull cap and they could split the sternum. As I'm watching 2 guys handle my skull capping, there was 2 other guys using an electric hoist with gambrel skinning the deer. I'm making sure the guy cspping doesn't give me the old eyes and half the nose cut when I here a splat. Looking over expecting to see a hide dropped down it was a fawn carcass, figured the back tendons gave or the gambrel slid out. Nope half the deer was on the floor and the other half hanging ripped in the back of the backstraps.

Wanted to take my deer back right then and there

    How does that even happen???

I got it pretty good where I live. Have 2 good options. An actual processor that does an amazing job for $85, or a co-workers Mom and step dad that has a small processing shed and do their own taxidermy work that really cut me a deal since I’m their sons boss... they offered, what was I supposed to do say no... don’t consider it an abuse of power....

My only conclusion is they were trying to peel the hide off and ripped it in two.

Yeah, here I pay $139 for a buck vaccum sealed, dated and frozen. Does is 129 and fawns 99.

Crazy pricing but they do(or at least did) quality work.

Another local place loses your skull cap and then says come back after season we'll have a barrel full and you can pick one out. Literally happened to a friend at work.

The ither place makes the best snack sticks and bacon around but cuts steaks bone in and folds the multi-muscled contraption of a steak up and wraps it.

Other than that it's a 45 minute to hour drive for a decently priced butcher.

Wow, that is steep! My favorite place does a great job, vacuum sealed, for $80 (regardless of size/gender)
    They also cube/tenderize for us.

So I sent the wife a message at 6:40 that I was getting down. Lowered the bow down and wouldn't you know it the old dude that has a 3 acre place right in the middle of my lease turns his husky out to run... As I watch that way--- 4 small bucks ran out across a corn field.

Amazing how they know where the safe haven are!

Idk what's wrong. I thought I'd be more free and have more time to hunt and it's the exact opposite. I know the deer are moving and this is the time of year I live for and I just can't get back in the tree the last few days. It's just really weird. I'm never really like this.

I'm back in the stand tomorrow morning, and the next 10 days

Next few days have the potential to be golden, and I'm going 100%.
I still have a freezer to fill so rut be damned, even the nannys are on my list.
    Good luck everyone!

It's called tagged out. Hppened to me last year. Sat the least amount of sits ever. Shot two bucks and never went out after the 13th of November. Freezer was full and motivation lacked from there on out.

That's hiw it was for me anyway

For the first time, ever, I used preorbital gland lure. I've had great luck with the bucks checking it out. I put it on a scrape this year and had the buck I shot checking the same scrape 2 hours later, I shot him 5 minutes after he worked the scrape.
