Alright so heres a little story from after last nights sit....make my way back to the truck...a good quarter mile-ish hike. Get stuff put away & get in & drive home. Go to get out of the truck to find i am stuck to the seat...great...oine sap on my coat. Gather my things to put away in my hunting tote only to find not only do i now have pine sap in my coat & drivers seat....it has also made its way to my arrow, my gloves (which i expected), my water bottle?!, my face!!?? & MY HAIR!??!? I feel like a kid with an exploded flippin ink pen!!! This stuff has a mind of its own & NO ONE is safe!! Long story short....(too late?) WD 40 is great for killing pine sap! ...at least in ones hair, face & water bottle.....that is all for now.... Sent from my SM-G935R4 using Tapatalk
Can't believe I've missed this thread. My first year hunting deer with a bow in probably 20+ years and in a completely new state. I've been out 7 times I think and have seen at least 10 deer every time. Have had opportunities to shoot does every time but the first time out... but I'm waiting on one of 2 bucks currently. I had my chance 2 weekends ago on my #1 at 20 yards and missed him (he was walking and not stopping in a small shooting lane). I've since seen him twice in the area so he isn't gone yet (or nocturnal). I went out Sunday and was so cold I was shivering and got out of my stand just a bit too early. I lowered my bow down, got my gear on and started my descent. When I was about hip high with my tree stand a fawn walked by, then a doe, and then a little 3 point buck. The buck grazed right up next to my tree, looked at my bow on the ground, snorted, stomped, and continued to graze his way through. I spent 20 minutes with one foot on the ladder and one off, holding still so as not to spook them out of my area. When they finally cleared I stepped out the distance to where the buck was and he was only 4 steps from my bow. Great experience. I got to watch a flock of geese hang out in the river for sunrise, then I had turkeys gobbling all around me, had 3 bucks go 15 yards behind my stand, heard a deer drinking from the river 120 yards away right at sunrise (that's how calm the morning was) before watching her walk away, got to see my #1 and #2 at about 60 yards go right by my game cam, and several does and fawns grazed through underneath my stand at 15 yards or so. All in all, a pretty good morning. It's killing me to not go swap SD cards on the game cam because I don't have any pictures of my #1 or #2 yet. I've seen them probably 5 times from my stand though. Hoping to get a buck this weekend or I might just take a doe. Not going to have as many opportunities after that due to work and travel. Edit: I also had a fox go by my stand Sunday morning. I think all I didn't have was a sasquatch sighting.
Sounds like your making great memories! Place looks beautiful!! Sent from my SM-G935R4 using Tapatalk
Same here, except for the cool about it part. That's a completely different story :/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
20+ feet in a tree & a grasshopper is on my bow. No matter where you are or what you are doing, always aim high! (Except when shooting a bow or long gun, then just aim at the target appropriately) Sent from my SM-G935R4 using Tapatalk
Glad to say that I got my best spot back. Climber only but that is not a problem Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Got in quite late, but after a stressful day of teaching high schoolers I needed the time in a tree. Saw two different does with twin fawns, and just had a big flock of Turkeys fly up to roost about 80 yards away. Sent from my SM-S820L using Tapatalk
That's unfortunate. But I'll be splitting time at home, the woods , and on the water hunt ducks. So I'll be busy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yeah she is PETA and often PITA as well. Makes for a great combo Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
There is a very simple solution for this problem! Just saying! Lol Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
