Well, my pup is blackmailing me into taking her out after some birds. This sure has taught me not to tag out before November. Probably won't get back out after elk till next weekend. If it wasn't for the fact that working full time keeps me in my two favorite luxuries (food and shelter) I would retire so I could hunt from September to the end of January. Maybe I could get Secretary DeVos to fund a charter school that is only in session from February 1 to August 31.
At home on the Lay Z Boy, turns out to be a bit of a blessing in disguise. Nothing was moving today, seen 1 basket 8 and that was it. Decided about 12:30 to call it a day, its sitting too long on the slow days that talks me into shooting something lesser. Anyhow, got up to the truck and tossed out the 18:1 to unload the crossbow. Pulled the trigger and "click". Apparently this morning when I was pressed for time, misplaced debit card, I only cocked back enough to set the safety and land on the dry fire catch. All day I sat with it like that. Had what I was after come by and offered a shot, I'd be a whole hell of a lot more upset than just a slow day on stand. I went from imagining bivk bucks stepping into the clear all morning to what if that buck would have stepped into the clearing and "click". Supposed to have some pretty nasty weather tomorrow, thought about going for a morning hunt but think I'll hit a few ponds in the morning instead. Be back out Monday through Sunday to get it done. My buck hunting is totally dependent on the rut, if it is delayed my chances are way lower. I'll still be out there Nov. 6th-12th I would be absolutely flabbergasted if no rutting activity commenced. I really think Monday and the return to cooler and more seasonable weather will be what triggers the frenzy.
I can already tell this is going to be one of those awesome hunts where I sit for 4 hours and don't see a deer until the last 10 minutes. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app

Todays weather screams "you're going to kill a buck." Snow this morning... Melting now causing a slight fog. 35 degrees. Light wind. Come on bucks/does. Do your thing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’ve had several close calls out working. Closest was probably striking a bridge I was Standing under. Felt the shockwave off it... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just had a wide 6 point come by. Didn’t really seem to concerned with anything. Neck wasn’t swollen. No grunting or anything...hopefully the deer keep getting bigger as the evening gone. So far that has been the case today... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm not after a buck. Just reporting the buck behavior from the ones around me. I've seen about 20 bucks in the last 3 sits and not one was even grunting as they were walking. I didn't notice any of their hawks blackening from peeing on themselves. Most all of them were just feeding. I'm just passing along live info.
