Well did my good deed for day. Got down about 930, hadn't seen anything since first light. Maybe a mistake but back to truck now. Anyway walking across field get up to pond levy and notice big clump laying in field 100 yards away. Grab binos and look and it's a coyote curled up in a ball fast asleep right in the wide open. Never seen that before, anyway stand there min and decide to try and sneak up on him get to 50 yards and never woke up or even noticed me. Pretty funny experience really, at the end decided not to shoot him, I wouldn't like it if somebody shot me in the ass while was trying to catch a nap. So backed out and left, coyote still fast asleep.

Now normally woulda blasted a coyote, but at least like to think give them little of a chance to get away. Im sure he was dreaming about taking down that big buck like I do this time of year sleeping so decided to let him sleep away haha.

Congratulations axtell, look like a good hit. Hopefully ya find him.

Well I think I am gonna call it a morning. Head back to the house and grab a bite, use the facilities then back out for the afternoon.

I'm at a loss. Not sure what to do. Stay put, switch stands, call it a day or what.

I really don't know what to expext where I am. It is a good morning stand but with all the ridges I thought it would be equally good for cruisers. I have no clue where the bedding areas are on this side of the property.

Seeing the little guy cruising early gave me some optimism, but that quickly faded

I felt same way, but did see few deer out in neighbors field close to where I was sitting when drove by so maybe I made wrong decision. Gonna head back out after lunch tho. Good luck

I had the same thing happen last Saturday. It was single lung on a 23 yard quartering away shot that was slightly back. I waited an hour. It wasn’t long enough! Wait two and go really slow. Back out if you haven’t found him after 150 yards.
