Yes, I hunt here most days. Deer kills gave dropped a lot as compared to 10 to 15 yrs ago. Liberal doe tags and ehd have hit the herd hard. Plus a big increase in coyotes.

But overall I love it here. Big woods and good people.

Just so you guys know big bucks still die on Halloween, my dad smoked this Iowa toad last night. He has worked hard and had many heartbreaks coming up to this. So happy for him.

One of my favorite areas there was the land navigation training area. Loved to hunt scrape lines along the creek bottoms under all them big oak trees. Good luck.

 

2 does through. Turned around and left when 2 more came. Spike and button buck. Also a fisher. Good morning so far. Looking for something to happen.

Well my Christmas morning - like anticipation with this new stand location is beginning to fade a bit. Sun has been up about an hour and a half and all I have seen is a big fat squirrel. Heard a deer blow about half an hour ago but I didn't see it and I don't know why it blew. It wasn't down wind or anything. Oh well, the quest continues!

The best 15 days of the year are here. It is November, my friends (as has probably been said 200 times). Goodluck everyone. I have a half day tomorrow and I am off Friday. This is my usual rut vacation, but my tag situation changed it up a little. Heading to Wisconsin tomorrow in search of a buck.

 

So Sunday looks to be the only day right now not so ideal with temps. Going to be mid to upper 70's but after that all next week is 40's and 30's for highs and lows.

I hope it holds true, no big swings means no high winds hopefully. Still curious to see how next weekend unfolds. Should be a pretty big storm system evolving.

This happened to me my first hunt this year. It was dead quiet and just breaking daylight.

 

4 bucks, 2 does and 1 fawn all before 830. Nothing since.

Going to go home in a bit for breakfast, warm up and a regroup and head back out. Wind is switching so I'm headed to a new stand.
