Point the arrow in the direction he went from there, and back out. Sent from my SM-N900V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
20 yard shot on the nose using slick trick 100s. Nott a bad angle broadside. No blood?! I'm still looking and have help coming. What do y'all think? I'm not pressing this deer at the moment. Sent from my SM-G935V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I think there has got to be blood being it is on your arrow. When in doubt back out. I wouldn't persue more than 50 yds from where you last saw it running. A mule kick is always good, but never definitive. Sunlight > flashlight
My wife and I are for hire. Seriously though, cls is right on the money. Natural light is so much better than artificial. Are you close to town? Sent from my SM-N900V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
You said it ran across a field, were you able to see where it exited the field? Others may disagree but if there was some distance to where it exited the field I think I would look where the deer left the field and see if you can find blood there. Maybe it would be more telling at that point. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Only reason I would disagree is it is after dark. Who knows what deer you may hear run off that is not the one you are looking for. Or worst case scenario, you head immediately to to the other side of the field where there is enough safety to bed down and you bump it to the unknown direction for an unknown distance. I'd always reccomend the follow the blood trail route, or just long enough to realize if there is blood it is not going to be enough to track in the dark. Might start as a droplet or two and then open up into a gusher as it fills up or starts coughing/spraying or it may start good and fade off. The first I would pursue, the latter back out and let daylight open everything up.
Good luck on the track Ridge. Can be tough track at night more flashlights and eyes may be your best bet tonight. For me just had 3 doe and a fawn at 30 yds but I was waiting for a buck that didn’t show. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
