Is the wind blowing in terra haute twitch? Cause it's rockin and rollin in NE Indiana Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
Right now I'm thankful for merino wool and Cabelas windshear Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
It’s blowing but not terrible. 10mph maybe a little more of a gust from time to time. Where is NE for you Jim? I’ve got family in Fort Wayne.
Well I live in Marion but I hunt near Columbia City, which is very close to Ft. Wayne Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
First deer of the evening came in behind me and crossed the creek. Little buck with 8-10" spikes Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Can see forever in this stand so when I see stuff it doesn’t mean much. Small buck forever away moving west to east. Deer #1 of the evening.
The only thing keeping me out here in this wind, is the hope that it will die down in the last half hour or so. I'm not kidding, it's about to blow me out of the tree! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
If your luck is anything like mine it'll stop blowing as soon as you talk yourself into getting down and calling it quits. Good luck riding it out tho, does get pretty spooky when tree your in is whipping around. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
I love setups like this because it keeps you focused but not always the best kill stands. This is setup on the same field I hunted a lot last year just a little further to the west. Hunted it about 10 times last year by this time, first sit this year - should be pretty solid.
Couple doe up the hill in neighbors crp. Seeing deer early tonight hopefully good sign. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
I sat until dark and didn't see a thing. The chickadees were plenty happy; just going about their regular business eating. I sure was hoping for the 8 pointer I'm after to show, but no dice. I think the worst time sitting out there was the 30 minutes after I got in the stand, I held onto a branch for dear life the entire time, but then it seemed to calm down a bit. Would I do it again? Yeah, in that tree I would. It's an old spruce in the middle of what used to be a field so it's plenty used to high winds. Would I do it in a poplar or something? No way. Hope everyone had a safe and more successful hunt than I did tonight.
