5 and main reason I proceeded. Found two or 3 more spots like that where she stood and then she proceeded down the hill in a straight line. Last blood 9n a narrow shelf above a dry creek bed.

I followed her course down into the creekbed and searched both sides and the bottom. Figuring if she went down the bank she would have had to stretch and likely open back up.

Went back to last blood and sat there looking at the perpendicular trail trying to find blood without disturbing anything.

No luck, so I walked the trail in each direction knowing I impacted her on the left side and blood was only coming from one side. Searched ome side of trail then the other side heading back to last blood. Nothing low, nothing high where she would have brushed up against it.

I'm back up on the stand replaying everything from where they were before light to where she ended up when I shot.

Nothing but white hair at impact and not much of it. Arrow had a good smear down the fletchings and white hair on the nock. My first thought was offside armpit, dead dear.

**** was 26 paces from tree. I'm 6'2" so likepy pretty close to 23-25yds. I split the 30 and 40.

My guess is one of three things:

    1. I botched the shot and flinched hitting way forward.

    2. She moved last second and I hit high shoulder and out brisket

    3. She was quartering harder than I thought and I caught one lung exiting brisket.

Sitting at impact site and staring back at stand and now in stand staring at impact site I'm kinda ruling out number 3 in favor of number 2 and then 1.

Going to sit for a few hours and give it one last good search in the event I did catch one lung. Shouod have seen some spray though so thinking it is unlikely.

Biggest problem is coyotes are thick as hell and a deer laying more than a couple hours will be found. So will be listening for yotes snapping at each other as well.

If you heard the cavity get hit, and think it was a far shoulder shot then your deer could be dead.

Does this look close to right? I tried to make it catch high up on the shoulder and hit the brisket. But it seems like too steep an angle for a 20-25 yard shot.

There is a lot of blood vessels and Arteries up in front of the shoulder, if you only clipped a lung and got some of them then I think it would be hard for your deer would survive that.

Saw a doe, two fishers and heard a bunch of turkeys this morning on the first sit of the year. Pulled cards on the way out and got one video in the fog of a shooter buck. First shooter I've seen on camera this year. Been only 6 pts and under before now:

Deer came in from right and walked up the ridge then back down. Red line.

I took the shot at red circle, blue line is trajectory.

    She ran yellow line.

I'm in a 20' ladder. She may have been a bit quartering away. She was on edge but not really alert. She got off the trail and went around bushes as she picked up my scent or something got her.

Had to head out. Had a good encounter with a nice 8-point. Couldn't get a shot, he kind of snuck up on me. But I've got him patterned now so I'll see him in the morning.
