Even more angry with myself. Went and got my son to go see what the blood said. The deer walked away after the hit. Flagging tail. Saw good blood so we followed. Only went 75 yards. 1 lung and the front of guts on off side. The part that I'm upset about is that it was a button buck. I had 3 does out in front of me and they went to my right into thick stuff about 6:20. 15 minutes later this guy comes in from my right and I saw no antlers and never looked again. By the time he was in light was fading fast. I was drawn and when he cleared trees at 18 yards I shot. Glad it was a short track. Glad it was a quick kill. So angry with myself for what he is. I wanted a small doe. This is a gut punch. Will be watching you guys for a while. Go get em.
You made up for it with your experience and hunter maturity by successfully performing a textbook recovery. Congrats! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Here we go!!!! Scent free shower, chugging a coffee, taking my assortment of pills, and hitting the road!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ditto. Hitting the shower, suiting up and out the back door to the food plot. Good luck Seamp Stalker and everyone else headed out.
Just got to the state game land parking lot with my dad. Someone is the luckiest person in the world when we pulled up there was an expensive name brand crossbow sitting in the parkinglot. Going to put up signs later to call with the make and model and what was left with it to try to find the owner, maybe take out a newspaper ad just hoping no one shows up and think I stole it. They will not be happy this morning! Heading to the stand shortly, dad had a long walk in so he left awhile Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Headed out to the tree. Saw some does on the drive over which I never like. Seems like I don't see as much when I see them on the drive to the stand, I think because they have been moving before daylight but that's probably my superstition psyching me out. Good luck all Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Same with me I always think it's a good omen but it turns out to be the opposite, saw one of the biggest does I have ever seen crossing into private land on the way here Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Good luck to all who are lucky enough to be out this morning! Need lots of post this morning to keep me sane at my desk today! Be safe shoot straight!
It's about 60 and muggy here in pa, I'm hunting about 150-200 yards from private land. I wanted to move this stand closer because there is a nice pinch point where the deer might head to escape to private land away from pressure. Opening day of muzzleloader here so I'm thinking more people will be out and the deer will come by this area on their way to private land. Good luck to anyone else out! Shoot straight guys! Good luck to those lucky enough to be hunting this morning. Gun doe season opens here today so the pumpkin army is hitting the woods so it's off to work I go.
Shooting time here, still a little dark in the woods, 10-15 minutes and it's go time!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Been settled in since 0550. Had one deer move by me in the dark. No idea what it was. Since then it's been quiet. Beautiful morning, 50 degrees, overcast, almost no wind. Great morning to sit in a tree.
Been set for about half hour... this dang factory has got to cool it with the overtime...i decided to stay anyway but I'm sure i wont see anything Sent from my SM-G930P using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
