Ya he is in a tough position. He should probably stand firm at this point. Shame when knowledgeable good folks on this forum (epsically for Indiana) are left out but it is what it is!!! Just a contest on the internet folks (not speaking to anyone in here) get the heck over it! Whoa... Get a life people!
No kidding.....there have been a couple guys just hounding me either in threads or in PM's.....ridiculous how upset grown men (well not all men, some boys) get about a FREE for fun online contest.
We finished the food plots yesterday. About 10 acres in total. Most are an acre or less with the largest being about two acres in size. We have a variety planted this year. Buck forage oats, cover radish, turnip, winter green mixes, barasica blends, cow peas and soybean mixes and a special mix sent to us from one of the guys from Mi. that hunts with us... most of the plots were over seeded with clover to boot... If ma nature is kind and provides us the right weather we should be in great shape come hunting season... I'm pumped! 10/1 can't get here soon enough for me :-)
Not much action on the cams this week. I am wondering if they are getting edgy and the bachelor groups are starting to break up... Only one we got worth sharing... Not a contender for me, but another year he might be one!
BHH the fact he isn't a contender is just awesome, special thing you guys have going. If I'm ever down towards southern part of the state would love to tag along (can blindfold me if you wish haha) and just see all you guys have done! As for me I spent Saturday getting all of the Homestead property ready and nearly completed it, sadly about a month later than I'd like, but a community scrape that sits 20 yards from my favorite stand had a camera soaking at it for some time so I pulled it and I'm not gonna lie this one buck I have checked and I don't think is either of the two I already posted...although he was with the 9 from earlier. This was mid-July, he's the one in the background of the first image...I don't believe he's older than 3 1/2 this season.....but I'd be hard pressed to pass him I bet.
My groups were still sticking together this week. Have a video with 5 bucks in it. They have stayed tight all summer long - won't be long though. Let me know how well those Cow Peas come in. I planted Iron Clay Cow Peas last year - plants were very healthy, looked way better than my soy beans - difference was the soy beans podded and the CP never did. The deer didn't touch them?? Was really surprised by this. Went away from them this year. Evolved Harvest Shot Plot and Whitetail Institute Imperial Clover and spot seeded Soy Beans (just for fun). The other plot - all Soy Beans and they are protected for the next 50 days with PlotSaver and Milorganite.
I couldn't join because i haven't been i member long enough, but i look forward to following fellow Indiana Hunters! Good luck!
So much for only one worth sharing a few days ago! Some great photos! What are you using on the stump? I've used Deer Cane this year and had a lot of success with it.
Yep-- was a nice surprise to get that many good ones on film.. We have had problems with the cams on this lease all year. Finally got a good camera down there. Is a red mineral block and Monster RaXX site
Well ya know Bone, being the camera efficianado that I am, I could come down there about the first week of November and fix all those cams for you. Just sayin! Blessings...........Pastorjim
