I should have a doe down by October 15th ( knock on wood) but I won't even be able to draw on a buck until the.n anyway with these new regulations we shall see Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Definitely. I usually have an opportunity at an early season doe so I'm hoping to get one down in the first week or two of season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Do you have to shoot a doe first? NJ is earn a buck for the early zones until October 3 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I don't have to. But you cannot shoot a buck the first 2weeks of the season in some areas of NY. Which happens to be where I hunt. It not a huge deal. The bigger buck don't start showing up until later October anyway. But if one does I'll have to bite my lip Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
NJ changed the regs for DMZ regulation set 7,8,9 which encompasses the zone I hunt, to all hunters to shoot 2 deer at a time. So I won't have to pass up a buck after I shoot a doe which is nice. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I prob could kill a doe on my land early season if I wanted to but I think it would be stupid for me to do so. We shall see Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I am hoping that a doe visits me early. I usually have lots of does around me in the first 2/3 weeks.
I haven't shot a doe in 5-6 years but I honestly think I'm going to target one on public land this year just to bring back the old thrill, plus I have NO freezer meat since lasts years buck had gangrene. Last night I was out glassing and saw a nice bachelor group 50-60 yards from the road. One of them was my target deer so far, easily mid 50's as an 8 pt, a nice 130's 8pt, 130's 10pt, and 2 small dinks. I'm hoping to scout again tonight and see if that's where he's bedding for now. If I can find his bedroom I'm golden! Also had a couple nice bucks come through my backyard.
Well quite by accident I was on my way home from work & spied four deer just down the road from my house. Changed clothes & headed back near the area on foot with the spotting scope. Gracious!! 14 deer in the area of a farm field referenced to as "the dump". Plus one of the biggest bucks I have seen for some time with what appeared to be one possibly two drop tines! Plus just behind my house I have a small bachelor group that's been hanging in the area. Sorry guys but I usually don't tag out on does unless I need meat in the freezer asap. I like to keep the does around for natural attractant for the bucks!
Here's tuxedo, hoping he hits 150 kinda hard to tell. Snapped off some pictures with my phone through my binoculars. I think he's just a 9 too. Season is in 8 days, can't come fast enough
Also hard for me to judge the age. I would have to guess 4 1/2, just curious what yall thought he may be
Nice bucks everyone! Kybowhunter, really hard to tell score and age. Either way looks like a very nice buck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
