We open Sept 26 here in Ohio, I NEVER do good in early season and I usually don't shoot does since our herd is down a good bit. This year I may break the ice with my new bow on a doe though. Its been several years since I've killed freezer meat. I'm watching a couple 140-150" class deer right now from a distance but staying low key to not tip them off. I did put a camera in there a month ago and plan on checking it tomorrow. Also just picked up 1,000 acres of pines and hardwoods so its going to be fun learning that property. My own backyard usually produces around Halloween through late Nov, so hopefully a deer I name "50" comes back. He should be a booner this year but he never shows until late Oct. I had two deer I was after last year, 50 & Wowza and lucked out on Wowza bc he was love sick. This year I've gained access to several new properties so I'm staying low key until something I want to kill trips my trigger! Best of luck everyone!
NJ has a ton of deer. Early season should be good here. The state isn't known for giant bucks but private tracts (like ours) with good food sources and deer management usually hold nice deer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Whats up fella's BowhuntMN here, just checking in. Can't wait for Sept. 19th for opener. Got hit the road here at work...More later
Junior checking in...Hunting central WI, land of tall pines & lots a tines! Season opens Sept 13th & i just bought some property & have been able to ID 7 good deer already! Fingers crossed for an outstanding safe season for all of us!
We open Oct 1st here in Illinois But we also start our busy season at work at the hunt club then so my time will be limited in a stand this year. I am always good for some doe points As far as a name and captain I'm good with what ever the team picks. I might be able to talk my buddy into making an avatar for us if we are lucky he is really good at that stuff hint hint Fitz Unless he drops his computer in the lake with his cameras
I am good with who ever wants the Captain's chair. Peace sounds like you might have the avatar job as long as your friend doesn't hold out on you!
Checking in. I haven't Got much to add as far as my hunting prospects go. My ground has been a lake for most of the year. I was last there in March to pull all of my stands down, then the rain came and just stopped a week ago. The good news is there's been not human pressure down there this year, and it will stay that way until opening weekend. The. I'm always good for a doesn't kill, but this yea I don't have a New born and should be able to hit the woods.more often. Plus my brother just bought 20 acresof bottom landed in KS and signed a lease for.300 acresto goose hunting, but I get to bow hunt it.
***Official Team #22 Thread!!**** Just PMed Galen and keepfallingup. They are the only ones who haven't checked in yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Also i really like the Catch 22. is that original or has the been a team name for team 22 in the past? anyone know?
I would not expect anything other than a doe from me until the rut. No decent bucks on camera and that is normally how it goes for me until all hell breaks loose when the rut starts. And I may not even shoot a doe prior to the rut.
That's pretty much where I stand BJE. The bigger bucks don't move around much early and just stick to the corn and bean fields. But once that rut kicks off a it can be pandemonium Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
***Official Team #22 Thread!!**** I think they have around 2 weeks. And I vote for catch 22 as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm good with any name. I'm really hoping this year is my buck year. I have been bow hunting since 2007 and have never arrowed a buck. I hunt the metro north of Minneapolis and this year am also going to try the Camp Ripley (Military base) hunt which is about an hour and a half north of my house. Got a couple pretty nice bucks on camera
