One bad thing about down here, white oaks are hard to come by, unless it's been a managed property in the past or you just get lucky. I saw the bobcat in your Facebook, I have never been able to connect on one but its in my bucket list

They're common up here. It's just a matter of finding the good ones.

Also on my bucket list. I think they make some of the best full body mounts.

Neither my GA lease or Alabama lease have white oaks that I have found. Mostly pine and water oaks, red oaks every blue moon. The GA property is FULL of persimmons though, they are every where. I haven't seen deer feeding on them like crazy though, watched one walk right past them for corn. Their are never any on the ground though, so something must be eating them!

From what I've heard the deer won't touch the persimmons till after the first frost. Supposedly it makes them sweet, before then they are bitter.

They are bitter until they turn pink and fall off for sure, haven't heard anything about the frost before.

That could very well be the case. I've never actually hunted anywhere near persimmons before, let alone tried them. My buddy swears that they are the best thing to hunt over after the first frost when they turn sweet. He could have been full of crap though, lol.

That's the case with turnips but I'm not sure about these persimmon jobs.

Those videos are pretty sweet. I've never seen a deer react to a camera like that.

Watched the videos. It's almost like there is a security motion light hooked up by the way they reacted. I'd check it at night and see what's going on.

Yea that's exactly what I thought, it looks like it's more than a glow. That's a stealth cam though, so I have no idea

Finally heading to the timber this weekend to get in the tree for the first time this season. Weather is going to be a bit warm but I can't wait to just sit in the stand. Love watching the woods wake up and go to sleep and who knows, maybe a Big Ol Buck will stroll by.

Well I am still in week 2 here in ga, I have seen a 11 deer from the stand, I have had 2 shot opportunities I killed a doe and passed on another. Pretty sure I could of had a shot on a 14 or 15 in. 8 pointer. But took a doe instead he came from the same way the 2 does did and it was a bee line to the mountain oak I was sitting on. I was on the WMA and they opened a road that had been closed and screwed me up on this spot. 7 of the deer I have seen on my land that's where I passed on the 2nd doe, and seen a little 6 point buck. But I have 3 shooters here at the house and the white oaks are just starting to hit the ground. Bears are also climbing the white oaks now. Good luck everyone

I won't be back in a tree till the evening of Oct. 9th, but after that I'll be hunting every weekend until December probably. I'll take a break then till the first of January and then hit it hard for another month and Alabamas rut!

I sat last night and didn't see anything. I hunted a public land spot that I had never hunted before. There was a decent amount of sign but no deer. It was a 40 minute hike to get to the tree. I'm at a loss because I haven't seen a deer since the one I shot opening day. I haven't had this much trouble in about 4 years. Hopefully it picks up before the October Lull.
