What's laughable is people all year claimed the Big East beat each other up all year to make their teams tourney ready. They have 2 in the Sweet 16. As does every other major conference. I see nothing special about the conference as a whole, it's not like amazing teams beat them out either, I mean seriously Ohio?

Cuse is the only other team that can compare to UKs performace so far. Both look scary good, and my post was made BEFORE Cuse's performace against Zaga today. At this point I don't see many teams at all being able to prevent these two from meeting for a championship round, which would be a heck of a match up. The reason I still think UK has the edge over any other team is the fact they have the best Center and Point Guard in the collegiate game, with a PF who will go in the lottery and a back up PG who could likely go first round as well. Too much talent and size IMO, but Cuse is great as well. Once teams like that match up, it's anyone's call as to who is better.

Best center and point guard in all of college basketball? I'll agree that they are very good and especially good put together on the same team. But .... come on dude.

But again you're missing the point. You can't judge a conference over a 30 game schedule based on who goes to the sweet 16 or what happens in THIS tournament. That's just ridiculous. How many teams did the big east hold in the top 10 all season? Top 25?

My point exactly. Those rankings were all based on what? Their performance against each other within conference and the assumption that they are all better as a whole (the Big East Conference)....When put against other conferences again, they proved to be about the same as everyone else.

Trevor I believe you are spot on, even down to the best PG and Center in all of the game. The only bump I see in KY's road is maybe WVU. I really like that WVU team. I really see Kentucky winning it all though. They're playing some good basketball. Who knows though, March Madness has definately been filled with plenty of madness this year :D

NY, I challenge you to name a better Center OR Point Guard in the game. Greg Monroe could be argued for the Center position, but I don't even see anyone competing with Wall for best PG in the nation.

Matt, Nate/FL is currently leading the pack. I'm holding down the fort in 12th of 15 :D but oddly I somehow still have the highest possible score left of anyone. It'll take a miracle for mine to pan out though. lol

Had a pretty good 1st round of picks, then a HORRIBLE 2nd round. Oh well there's always next year.

Off the top of my head really quick....

    Point guards:

    Sherron collins (Kansas)
    Lucas (mich St.)
    Vasquez (maryland)
    Devon Downey (South Car.)
    Scott Reynolds (Nova)

I'm sure there are more I'll think of today

    Centers :
Kind of thin at centers this year but....

I'd take Aldrich every day of the week over Cousins.
    Monroe (G town)
To be honest Ed Davis if ever stayed healthy has as much potential as anyone

** Why do you think these guys deserve to be on a separate pedestal from everyone else (especially Wall)? You really think there is that much that separates them and their talent than the others mentioned? Because everyone tells you what a good player Wall is "supposed to be"?

No, I think their numbers seperate them from the rest. Cousins averages 15 pts and 10 rebs for under 23 minutes/game. Anyone else come close? Aldrich averages 11 and 9 for over 26 mins/game. Monroe does average 16 and 9 but takes 35 mins/game to get there. Ed Davis averages 12 and 9 for 26 mins/game. Cousins has 20 double doubles, Davis has 10, Aldrich with 15, and Monroe with 13.

SO, best stats with the least minutes.....I can see why the others are better. There really is no valid arguement to be made for a better center this year.

PG is close, all their stats are very similar (Wall has more turnovers yet also has alot more assists). Vasquez I can go along with, he has had a hellacious year. Collins and Lucas were good but not on Wall's level, and Devan Downey I hope you were kidding.....Downey was on a team BY HIM SELF which was the only reason in the world he scored so much. When he dropped 30 pts on UK, he shot only 29% from the field and missed 20 FGs, what a superstar.

PG is a much closer race, with most stats being comparable. I keep reminding myself that Wall has 4 other future first round picks on his team to share the ball with scoring wise. There are maybe 2 other guards you could argue had as good a season as Wall, but taking into account how he handles pressure in games, his stats, and where his team currently sits...I wouldn't pick anyone over Wall. He does stuff with the ball the others can't do.

LMAO. Numbers don't lie my friend. There are 2-4 Guards out there that could be argued as the best. The best center isn't even really questionable this year. I find it funny you don't agree really. If you asked me who the best Slashing Forward in the game was, he wouldn't even be within 500 miles of Lexington.

I admit to having blue glasses, but statistics sure as hell don't care what team you play for. Can you honestly argue with the facts about the best center THIS year?

Ed Davis has also missed like the last 10 games too, plus he blocks shots better than Cousins.

But I agree, Cousins is definitely the best center in the country. He's just so big and strong and dominates games with his scoring, rebounding but also just efficiently taking up space . That being said, I can't stand him. He has maybe the worst attitude I've ever seen in college athletics. For some reason, he thinks the entire world owes him something.

John Wall is really, really good, but he's been reputation has been relying heavily on the hot start he got off to. I remember people comparing him to Derrick Rose, and I don't even think there is a discussion. If I had to pick a point guard to lead my team, Wall would be my third pick behind Vasquez and Andy Rautins. Rautins may not be a true PG at the college level, but he shoots, passes and more importantly understands the game better than anyone in the country.

shhhhhhhhhhhhhh be careful. Don't mention other facets of the game like defense and all the intangibles that go along with the game of basketball as a whole. We don't want to give Tembry something to think about lol. Believe it or not Tembry it IS more than offensive statistics.

I could concede your argument with Cousins. He probably is the best center in the league this year. Not nearly as wide of a gap as you suggest, but I won't argue that as far as if I had to label one of them "the best".

Wall on the other hand? You'll never get me to agree to that. I may give him a top 5 but even at that, not that much more of a standout than the PG's behind him.

I'm not saying these guys arent good. Like I said, I see them both in the top 5 at their positions. But like I said, not NEARLY as much of a gap as you would like to think. Put any of the top 10 PG's in walls shoes and he contributes just the same as Wall. And they are more than likely in the exact same position KU is in now. I just don't see him as the messiah that Kentucky couldn't live without.

Me either. Common ground here. We would still be a VERY good team without him. We have a first round draft pick PG in Eric Bledsoe that we don't even start at Point Guard. LOL

It's dumb arguing the best anyway. When the season is on the line though, You've seen how Reynolds and Collins performed for their team (terrible in case you missed it somehow). Vasquez is a baller and really can't argue against him. His season has been amazing, and he is my favorite player in the ACC hands down. Like I said, there are MAYBE 2-3 guards you could argue have performed better than Wall. If Wall tightened up his D a little more, he'd be unstoppable.

In other news, how about this Enes Kanter dude? what a weirdo, passes up millions in Europe (where he moved here from) for a year of high school and a year of college before hitting up the NBA? If you are deemed eligible, welcome to UK my friend.:D

Anyone else excited for Thursdays games?

    What a game.

The shot to put it into 2nd OT are you kidding!?
