I have to say hunting VT earlier than my trips to OH and KY does change the way I would hunt VT with the current set up of the rules. The average shooter buck in VT where I hunt is not likely to break 80" so with that said I am far more apt to pass on a buck in VT with my bow knowing that I can potentially shoot a doe, then go south and have better opportunities at a legitimate buck and many more doe. Scoring your first buck as your only buck definitely changes it up a little. Lets put it this way, It would have to be a true VT stud for me to pull the trigger early. but I dont have any on camera yet, so nothing to worry about! 7 Cameras soaking right now though!

Mule deer Sep 6! I saw a few nice sized deer last weekend while hunting for black bear.

I've tentatively locked up a tiny lease. It's 17 acres west of Peoria. It sounds like 7 of it is timber.

I'm going to look at the ground in person on Saturday.

Sweet boof I'm working on 40 acres for bow only season. I hunted it last year but they might be selling it.if I can the chance of tagging a good buck just got really good.

Awesome boof! I was just in Peoria for work - the place looks like deer heaven! From the airplane I saw about 10-15 prime spots LOL!

Boof I am about an 1:45 east of you and those small tracks can be gold mines.

Adding two more stands this weekend and one cam and then checking 5 cams. Have high hopes for one of the cams and will let ya know if there is anything good. Going to switch over to birds from the 1st to the 15th.

Sounds good to me!! I can't find any bear! Just lots of track. People talking, and bear roaming by my house at night. They are camera shy I guess

Pulled 7 cams today after 3 weeks of soaking. Few does with fawns, 3 people, 2 bears, 2 cow moose, and I think one real young bull can only see a palm in the dark at that. One of my best moose spots was littered with sign and the camera never took a picture... My dad set the cam and I think he turned it off instead of on... No sign of any bucks yet, but luckily I don't hunt VT for bucks! They will show up though. Will post a couple pics when I get to my computer..

While scouting this past Saturday I found a couple of new pretty good looking spots but could not get into the one spot I was really looking forward to seeing because of a tree down across the road.
