That's awesome, Jim! We should be near the top of the scoreboard.

I've got any deer and anterless tags left in Illinois. I probably won't get out until December, now.

    Nice one Jim!

I think I hunted between 65 and 70 hours over 9 days, probably averaged seeing about 10 or so a day. Saw 3 bucks I would of shot and passed a ten I maybe should of. Saw some cool stuff and will be hitting it hard again at the end of the week.

    Good luck guys!

This was the craziest hunt ive ever been on. I was getting text messages from my hunting partners on another farm and they were seeing big deer but have already tagged out so they cant shoot any bucks. I packed up my gear and lowered my bow down to the ground. As I was standing back up my filming partner says don't move big buck coming across the field. I slowly turned and saw this guy on a steady slow walk. I pulled my bow back up in the stand took off my back pack and then knocked an arrow before turning around. Once I was able to turn I realized the deer wasn't going to come into my pinch point in the field but continue straight ahead and walk through some brush. I turned and we started talking about the shot distance (forgot my range finder in my old camo and this was my first hunt in my new gear). Earlier we counted rows in the corn and did the math as to some ranges. He turned down a trail that we agreed would come out at 45 yds and then turned again and stepped back out into the corn at 55 yds. He stopped broadside and I settled in for the shot, after I released it was like time was in slow motion. The arrow hit perfectly and I got a complete pass through. The buck immediately stumbled and stopped after about 20yds, he nearly went down and then bolted another 15yds before tipping over. Shot him at 10:15am, what an awesome hunt!

Guys I'm not trying to be overly critical but we need as many team members as possible to punch a doe tag. Nobody wins just based on buck kills. If we had 1 doe each we would be in first by a mile.

If any of the Illinois members have a place for me to come kill a doe, I'd be all over it. Or if they want a buck culled, even better. You could keep the meat and everything.

I'd be happy to shoot another doe - however, I think it might be buck time for me. ;).

    Back after it again soon.

If any of you midwest guys need some help with doe management during the Christmas break, I would love to come up there and help. We could maybe trade hunting for some world class bass fishing on Lake Guntersville and some hog hunting!

The alabama youth gun season starts today and the regular gun season starts next saturday. I will more than likely not be gun hunting much this season because I already got a buck. I will be focusing mainly on taking a lot of does now since our new property is overrun with them. I think I will def put a few more points on the board!
