Congrats on the doe!

I wasn't able to get out last night from my sons football practice. I will however get out tonight. It is overcast, raining off and on and a bit windy. I have had great hunts in these conditions in the past.

This will be the first time I have ever hunted this property that I started to "manage" this spring.

My talks with Illinois landowners about leasing keep falling through at the last second. At this point, I don't think I'll be having any Illinois success this year. It's pretty devastating, especially when I see the temps drop like they did this weekend.

I'll be going back to South Dakota around Halloween and be hunting for three days. That weekend can't come soon enough.

 

Went hunting tonight and found out that the buck my friend saw was not a lie. He come out right before dark, he was at 60 yards and got spooked by some howling coyotes. Gonna have to come up with a good game plan now for next weekend.

 

Day 2 in the books, no moose seem, fresh sign this morning on fresh snow. Gotta keep plugging away, or go Grouse hunting because they're everywhere this year! Hope everyone had a fun, safe weekend!

 

Well things are looking up for me LOL.I finally heard deer this weekend yet still have not seen any from the stand.hopefully everyone else is having more luck than I am.stay safe brothers.

I had a great weekend of bowhunting last weekend in Minnesota. It was youth season but I was still able to get out a hunt a few days. I passed a doe with TWIN fawns... I just couldn't do it.

I also hung a new set --- and about 3/4 of way through it standing on my lone wolf sticks here comes a buck (@10am). Passed below me at 60 yards. I'm definitely in a good spot for Halloween weekend.

I hunted my second time on Saturday and saw 13 doe and yearlings in the morning with 0 in the evening. Out of the 13 the only ones that were in range was one doe with a yearling and she got a pass. Did not see any bucks moving yet. Trail cams still look good other than a ton of coyotes, had 4 in one picture.

Waterfowl in the Illinois Central Zone opens up Saturday and will be hunting geese this weekend. Doubt I will deer hunt again until the 30th, but will be deer hunting everyday until the 8th of November. Where I am in central Illinois I still think we are a couple weeks from the good stuff.

Neal, I have never seen it not rain during harvest before and we are 90%+ done around here which should help.

 

Yes it is I have to make the most of this weekend because next weekend is youth weekend so I will probably take next Friday off

 

I'm lucking out this year. Most of my spots are done. Hoping the neighbors catch up too! This week should be a big week.
