Okay. The doe is cut up and in the fridge, my camo is in the wash, my knives and gut hook etc are back in my field dressing pack and I should be ready to head out again in the morning.

I'm on my laptop now but all the pics are on my phone. I'm just gonna go the phone and post a few pics. I may edit to comment as needed.

You might be surprised to hear this but I can’t see any blood in the normal pics.

As it turns out the app works fantastic even at night! I've been dying to test it so I made sure to take some screenshots. All you need is a decently bright white light and it's on! This is gonna a game changer or me and anyone else that's colorblind.

Now, I really didn't need it tonight. I estimated 23 yards on the shot and she was 20. I was shooting my Heli-m set at 60# and shooting 530 grain arrows, so 3 yards made a difference. The hit was a little high but she died within three yards of the arrow. Actually, in that pic I posted of the Nocturnal she was lying 3 yards from it.

Anyway, it feels good to get that monkey off my back. Oh, and @bowhunt4abuck - I told you those deer had hacked my account. It worked!

From 6:50 to 7:20 I had this fawn. Waited for Bertha and she never showed. 1000005311.jpg

By the way folks, I know most people probably already know this, but there's an easy way to take your "hero shots" for the scorecard thread.

This time I just propped the phone up on the four wheeler, (you could use anything. I've used my pack on a tree before), put the deer in the screen, set the phone to video and start recording. Just walk to the deer, kneel behind it and turn the head this way and that a few times and you're done. Then you can pause the video, take a screen shot, crop it and you end up with a half-way decent shot. That's what I did this time. The pics won't every win any contest, but it's better than a selfie where I have trouble making out the bow and the deer.

Congrats to the killers tonight. I took my youngest out tonight to try and get him his first deer. We sat a pond that has had consistent doe traffic on camera all summer. The plan worked perfectly, two does came in with 30 minutes left. Unfortunately, they went to the one spot where there was too much brush for him to see and shoot the crossbow off the shooting sticks. Since he couldn’t see, I decided to take a shot as shot as they were walking off. Had to free hand it and shot just low.
