I've never done it myself, but I'm excited about it. We're going to start off with bows and end with guns. He has one boar on camera there that is huge. While I'm bow hunting I WILL have my 10mm on my hip.

Should be a good tune up for deer season too. You just gona use the same setup you use for deer or you gona test some stuff out?

I suppose I'll use my same set up. My arrows should be heavy enough at 480 grains and I assume the Slick Trick Magum would be a good broad head for hogs.

I do look forward to seeing how far a hog can carry a 45-70 round though. :biggun:

I got a couple of cameras out this morning one on a creek crossing with some big tracks and on a trail going to soybeans. It will be first weekend in September before I’m coming back to check.

Went over to my property to check out the crops and snoop around yesterday. Lower fields by the river looks pretty sad.

First on the sign up list this year. I got a preemptive text right before it went up.

We cleaned a boar about 10 yrs ago and found the following: 3- broad heads, 2- 9mm, numerous 00 buckshot and 4- 22LR. he was old and scarred up. he had cutters as long as my index finger. watch the shoulder area, the shields they develop get thick and hard. took him with a double lung.

I would think a boar like that wouldn’t be any good to eat.

You guys are leading the charge. I have all my cell cams out but one that my wife uses for TNR program. I should probably confess that these cameras are the same ones I put out last fall…. 7 of them are still working.
I’m looking forward to sharing the journey with you all. All the ups and downs and everything in between.

as said, avoid the shield and a good COC are choice for these even though most quality fixed heads can do the job .... many yrs (30ish yrs) back I went to a high fence hog place in S. Ohio (first and last time in a fenced place), used 85 gr Thunderheads and ACC's. Killed two 125+lb hogs ... shots were around 25 yds, no problems with penetration/one broadside, the other qtring away .. ...

Getting loaded to leave tomorrow morning. I’m getting a little excited.

It would be nice to make an “arrow launched” post in July.
