I’ve been curious for a while now about something. When did “real feel” replace “wind chill” and “heat index”?

It was the same here when I got up at 8:00.

I wanted to go back out this morning but I couldn’t make it happen. I need to wash the gear I had on yesterday and I need to clean three arrows and sharpen/replace blades on them.

I’ll get back out this afternoon. It’s still going to be cold since the high today is only going to be 25 degrees.

somewhat of a warmup next week, out of Fri/Sat, Sat. looks to be the better of the two days, 23 deg.Fri .. 41 deg. Sat. .. I just want some south/sw winds for two locations I havnt been able to sit yet ... this far out the weather 'guesses'/predictions seem to always change ... 4deg. now and strong nw winds .... got another 3-4" of lake effect too ... time is running out, I have next Fri/Sat and the following Fri/Sat. ... all dependent on weather/wind ... hell, I'm ready to hunt bunny's and coyotes, to heck with this deer stuff ;0) .....

Hmm, I guess that global warming label just didn't work out. Oh and by the way, I remember the very first earth day. They took the whole school outside to the football field and had an excavator and actually buried an old V8 engine. Seriously! Then they said if we didn't get away from fossil fuels, it would plunge the planet into an ice age!! They can't seem to figure out what name they want to use anymore than they can predict the weather 24-48 hours in advance. Sorry for the rant but this is a real hot topic with me.

I think it is more of a media/local broadcast thing, NOAA still uses wind chill in their guidance/criteria. While it's not as dramatic sounding as others you hear... "Bomb Cyclone" and "Polar Vortex" are becoming the ear grabbers like it is something new occurring rather than a thing that has always been. Nor'easter and arctic front, just doesn't have the same fear mongering sound to it. They'll use these events to help fuel their narrative of "man made" when it is just natural occurrences, albeit of the rarer variety, happening so early. Case in point today's forecast high is 6 degrees here, record low high temp is -1, set 124 years ago in 1901, but it's never been this cold, this early until green became a thing.....

    End rant.... sorry

I doubt that lightning will strike twice in the same place on the very next day, but it's happened before.

I have my three arrows I shot cleaned, sharpened and back in my quiver. I had to replace one broadhead. It broke when it hit the rocks.

I hauled the carcasses away, sharpened my knives and my inner and outer layers are in the wash. I won't go back out until 2:30 or 3:00. Maybe 2:00 but what wind there is is really cutting today.

If I can put one or two more down here I may head to Arkansas and start hunting there. The guys at the club say they're really moving there.

When the vocabulary of the younger generations declined to where words like “chill” and “ index” became too challenging.

I hear all three of those terms used by meteorologists. I just know my 68 year old bones detect "real feel" and "wind chill" quickly!

It’s 23 degrees with a wind chill of 15 here right now.

This heated gear has me so warm and cozy that I’m starting to doze off.

    This stuff is incredible.

It didn't work out because it's not accurate, it's too broad-brushed. Climate change is more accurate, and a very real. The vast majority (97-99%) of climate scientists agree that climate change is real and mostly human-caused. I agree wih them.

Having the right clothing makes all the difference. Better to have and not need, than to need and not have, when it comes to the cold. You can always take it off if it's too much.

Not to get off topic but if there were six ice ages before modern times and where I live was a mile under ice call me skeptical. In the seventies we were headed towards another ice age now this. Yes the climatic is changing just like it always has and just like it always will. IMHO
