Hey everyone. The last 12 days have been a blur. Not even sure what i last posted here. Walked into the hospital with a huge gall bladder stone and pancreatitis as well as sepsis on December 1. Been on pain meds , high doeses of antibiotics and operated on since then. Didn't eat for 11days straight, didn't know that was possible for me. Still just drinking soup mostly, have tried some rice, organic chicken and broccoli, seems to be staying down. Missing one of the best muzzleloader/late archery seasons we've had inVT in a long time. My house looks like yours Mudshark. Happy 50th Anniversary Pastor Jim. It's a miracle that few today get to celebrate. I see many of you are still grinding. Wish I was out there with you. My fractured vertebrae, from my 20' fall this July will be my next hurdle. There seems to be a procedure where a surgeon can actually cement together the vertebrae at the fractured in an outpatient surgery. Waiting for an appointment with the specialist. If what I read is true, two weeks after the procedure you can do whatever you want again. If anyone has had the procedure please reach out and let me know how it worked for you. I've been reading the literature, but that's basically just a sales pamphlet. If I can get to NJ for a January/February Buck hunt I will. Good luck everyone!
Glad to hear you’re on the mend. Still plenty of season left. Get healed up first. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Man I hope your recovery goes well and you mend quickly. I'm praying you'll be back at it soon with no pain. God bless! Sent from my SM-S916U1 using Tapatalk
Headed out soon for an afternoon hunt with 450. @cls74 I set up a stand at 11pm during a snow storm once near bedding. I check the camera a few days later, big 10 came in 40 minutes after I hung the stand and checked my setup out. Never saw him in the daylight.
I’m up for the afternoon sit. I decided to hunt my own place across the road. I had to walk a whole 225 yards from my door to get here. It was tough. You wouldn’t giess that from the view though.
I am up, sitting in a treeline on the west side of a public land food plot. Multiple trails enter the plot here. A pond is about 70 to the NW of me, scrape near it and another due N at 55 yards. Does bed in a pine thicket about 100 yards away hopefully something moves this way or a buck comes in looking for a fawn in heat. About 2 hours until dark.
Morning snows turned into afternoon snows. At least an inch so far. Gave the farmer next door a good laugh. He came with a block of cheese for us. I answer door with 2 knit hats ,2 pairs of sweats and blue painters tape over my eye. I looked like a crazy homeless person. We both stood on porch laughing in understanding. Unfortunately had to greet him out side due to dogs being barking manic nut jobs over delivery ppl. So apparently the 12pt is still on his feet along with a " massive " 10 pt. Running from here to an area 2 miles away on pattern. Looks like we may still have alfalfa again next year, but they were upset about not being able to due a 3rd cut. This field was the only one that burnt down in the drought we had in fall.. ppl are still out there trying to fill that last buck tag.. He described a 3 week period where all cams went dead and told me where those cams were. I said one word...feeders and he nodded.
I am not going to head out in the morning. Planning an afternoon sit. Not sure I would last long in 8 degree temps.
I watched 5 does feed by well out of range. They fed right through a small grass plot that I sat twice about a month ago.
