Well here we go again, was on the fence if I take the rifle out here for the last day in PA, or take the bow down to MD for the last day of rifle down there… now it is. Alarm is set for half past three… gonna be an early morning but I’ve had some decent activity on camera on the bow only public down there… nothing big in daylight, but one slammer at night. I like to think I have the control to not shoot a smaller buck… but I know me lol.
I'm going out this afternoon. Heavy snow, also major cold air moving in tonight. Should have them on their feet. I've had some memorable hunts in the snow, really looking forward to it!
Coffee down and headed out. This is the last day until after Christmas. Good luck if you’re out this morning. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
All set up in Maryland… gotta love waking up before four and driving an hour to be set up an hour before light only to have someone come in and set up under a hundred yards away with a half hour till light, despite flashing him with my mega bright flashlight he decided that was a good spot to set up anyway… so much for hunter etiquette. Whatever going to not try to let this ruin my hunt, still a good distance away when we are in an archery only area. About 15 minutes till legal light. Good luck to those that are out!
Him ignoring your flashlight says a lot about what kind of hunter he is. Yeah, don't let it bother you and just enjoy the day. Good luck and keep warm!
Sitting on a finger ridge in the NC mtns waiting for critters and enough light. Deer and bear rifle season overlap. It’s already going off the rails Overdressed Accidental (but safe) discharge - think I clipped the trigger with gloves when chambering a round with lever Winds is blowing uphill I’m old and apparently more out of shape than I thought, climbing this dang ridge.
I'm pretty old at 68, but not really out of shape. But, I have to say that the large hill I used to climb to get to my hunting area has become too much for me, so I hunt much closer to the road/parking area. As long as I'm getting into the woods with a decent chance at a buck, I'm happy.
I’ll be 60 in a few weeks, but it was about a 750’ ascent from the truck…in about 1/2 miles. With the random patches of frost covered oak leaf litter… Nice saddle here, and an empty tree stand 30-40yds away…of course my harness is back down in the truck…
Several deer north of me but they did not come by me. Lots of squirrels. Still super quiet. Maybe something will move through here
Getting out is harder and harder after not seeing anything since I don’t know when. Might head out this afternoon if the spirit moves me. Someone kill something and give me some hope.
had that happen waaaay to many times on state land ... I despise idiots like that .. no respect for the other guy ..... If I go into a spot and someone else is close, I'm going someplace else ....
