So the Concert last night and I had shoveled yesterday barely moving this morning.
Pulled card and yeppers 20 mins before close on, was a party out there. Doe and fawn galore and all the spike returned, two 8 pt. Perhaps more I had a few racks to far out to know for sure. The foot prints were huge. This morning 2 squirrel. Glad I was sore after all.
Ignore time stamp as said, it's broken.

So putting this here because I want a lot to see it.
It's Christmas, buy your self a gift if you do not have one already, a sous vide machine.
My Heavens I did two small ham roasts from the buck and it tastes like the best roast beef I've ever had. I have never liked venison roast. The taste , texture, and always hellish for me not to dry out and still be able to chew it.
This this is a game changer and the flavor it imparts with added spices is ,well , crazy good!!! Think about it.

I sure wish I had you cooking for me! Being a bachelor has it's perks, but having to cook for yourself certainly isn't one of them.

That is the Great thing about this, put the roast in a vac bag with a source of fat, I use butter and a bit of avacado or olive oil . Pat what ever spices you like seal the bag and put it in the water with machine set for time and temp to match meat and rareness you are looking for. Set and leave it. Then high heat sear if you have and issue with lack of color. I don't bother. It's sliced for sandwiches or just to snack on. It softens the connective tissue you can't reach and still have a roast and allows meat to stay moist and tender.

I’m back up. I jumped 3 on the way in. Hopefully, I didn’t booger them too bad.

I usually judge how badly I spooked deer by whether or not they blew and by they way the took off. Slow trot away, or a full blown all out run with tails flagging! The severity of the spooking often lets me know if there's a possibility they'll show up again any time soon. Good luck out there!

See you again in about a week then. That amount of catch-up will be very time consuming.

They didn’t blow. Tails up and slow trotted away. They must have been feeding on acorns. We still have some snow coverage and they’re digging it up.

One thing I've noticed following your efforts for a long while, is you seem to be seeing deer more often that not on your hunts. That would keep me hunting too! :tu:

I’ve been in since 315. This spot service is bad. Nobody has been hunting up here as far as I can tell. No tracks in the parking area except a big deer track. I’ll post a few pics when I get home they will never load from here. Good luck out there.

I forget how easy it is to stay out here when the wind isn’t terrible. I did see 2 deer out feeding on my drive here between 2 and 246. I might have to come up here one more time and hunt the other side of the road along that steep drop there’s a heavy trail.

I totally agree! It has sometimes made the difference whether or not I'll hunt at all. The only exception would be during the peak of the rut, when I'll sit in pretty much anything, except an extended downpour.

I did find one spot that may pay off late season. This place is beautiful but very rugged.

I saw plenty of deer this afternoon just not what I’m looking for. Last day is tomorrow until 12/26.

So I went out and with no phone. Estimated 15 mins. before close 2 fawn came out and hung around 14 & 18 yrds out. Looking over there shoulderthen a doe at 40. Followed by a spike. They hung out to what I knew had to be close. I very slowly started packing up then look up to see the 8pt. Figures. Now it's gotten hard to see and I hear Hubby yelling for me at the top of his lungs.. Geez, can't get too mad I heard a huff and commotion as they ran away. None the wiser I was rt infront of them.
Honey I'm a grown woman... your an old woman and I was worried with the phone here. Makes being peeved ...impossible...lol

You're lucky that you have someone who loves you and cares very much about your well-being. You're blessed!
