I’m back out in a different spot. I don’t want to sit that spot too many times in a row.

I did have a small flock of turkeys walk by this morning but that’s all I saw.

50 mins. left 600g gave up 15 mins ago lower back area chilled and stiffening. Freight train winds making a ton of noise. This scope is great in low light. Unlike my gun bead..

Bolt fired direct hit. Giving a few before going out, headed toward sanctuary.

Auto correct that was before. OK every time I announce a shot before getting deer it all goes to crap!. So I waited, changed boots and some clothes put dinner in oven heated updater ( wrote heated up Gator) I drive out to 19 yrd shot. Find bolt along snow not in ground and body hair. She was stretched out sniffing fawn head up heart side. Shot and heard hit immediately watched her hunch and tip as she swung away . She stumbled on run.Again aimed just as with buck right behind elbow.
What I found after broken broad head with hair and near non existent blood on shaft/ fletching. There was not a single drop of blood ANYWHERE. I followed her path, which lead me to a slaughter house paddock of trampled ground. Then many sets of glowing eyes. I backed out and will look in the morning. Not expecting anything. I will be shooting bow on target for hubby had moved it and the quiver had magically come off. He claims it wasn't on in the first place. Hhhmmm not. Lost the broadhead but bolts intact. Here is the pic of fawn she was sniffing.

Reminds me of the terrible shot (sort of) I made on this 6pt back on Oct. 25th 2023. I watched him come to the active scrape I was hunting over from the ground, behind a deadfall. When I first saw him 30yrds out, I started taking video of him with my phone. Then, I quickly realized he was closer than it appeared through my phone, which I was able to put down without him seeing me.

He was now quartering towards me at about 18 yrds. I intended to shoot him in his brisket, because that was the only shot I'd get before he saw me. After my shot he ran the way he had come. I waited a short while before looking for blood. As I followed the route he took it looked like a blood bath! I couldn't believe the amount of blood he was losing, and thought I must have made a better shot than I expected.
I found him dead about 75 yrds away. When I looked for where my shot hit, I couldn't find any indication at all that I'd hit him, it was very strange!

I gutted him, dragged him out, and took him to the butchers. I told the butcher I couldn't find where my shot hit, but mentioned all the blood he lost. There was no visible wound at all, until my butcher said come here and look at this. He showed me a three blade impact wound on the buck's cheek! He said I hit this deer's cartoid artery and that's why he bled out the way he did.
This buck had to have ducked when I shot, allowing my bolt to hit him where it did. Sometimes, it's better to be lucky than good.

A week from this morning I gain access to that lake area spot. And, like clock work my work announces mandatory 12's until further notice. All good though, as next Thursday work half day then the company Christmas party and will be out of that by 1:30pm and then off until January 5th, but last day to hunt is Dec. 31st.

Drove past it this past Saturday aboit 8:00am. No one was hunting, again as it was 2md firearm season, and to top it off, no one had hunted it that week either as we got 9" of snow the previous Saturday and no tracks in it. The weekend before that was 1st firearm season, hunting wasn't allowed, then Turkey day weekemd, no one hunted followed by 2nd firearm season.

To my knowledge it was not hunted in the month of November, I only aeen a vehicle there one time during the 2nd half of October, no clue how much he hunted

No clu what to expect or really how to go about hunting it. Going in blind to what I imagine is flat primarily bedding and cut/chiseled corn across the road. Not really set in my favor, but only takes one dummy aside from myself to make something happen.

Nothing at all sighted this afternoon.

I’ll be taking the day off tomorrow. Not because I want to but I have no desire to sit it 15-20 mph winds with gusts to 40-45.

The actual temp is supposed to be in the mid 30’s but nah, I’m not going to play that game.

I wouldn't either. I despise hunting when it's real windy, and usually I won't. The only exception to that is if it's during the rut. Sounds like a good morning to sleep in. :tu:
