I have shot several bucks using a grunt over the years. All were during the seek phase of the rut and were on private property that had a balanced deer herd. When the doe population is out of balance bleating works better for me. I will say that I use a grunt only after I have seen or suspect a buck to be in a favorable wind condition ie upwind. Never had one come in if they are down wind when I grunted.
20 degrees now with winds going to 4 over nght though that means zero or below for us Big crock of spring turkey /veggy soup cooking and I'll be out in the garden blind. No deer last night but night before they were all over that area. A few actually came in the fenced area and right up to the blind door. We had snow all morning about a half inch. Hoping not having to have the Gator over near garden to guard the chickens will have them coming arou d during day light. BTW, it worked amazingly.
Okay, screw this. Over six hours sitting here in sub-freezing temps just to see birds. I’m out. Y’all can have this full moon stuff. I’m taking a day or two off and I’ll wait until it’s a little closer to the 3rd quarter moon, which is my favorite.
Oohhhh boy that wind is 2 bladed sword today. I'm in the garden blind because if I do get a shot I want it close to house. I see alot of old tracks out there and cam showed deer just at close couple of nights ago. Maybe bringing my heavy rubber glove due to Cold will grant me a gutting tonight. Bundled in 3 layers head to toe Good luck guys.
Sorry to hear that. I’m only getting morning movement and it’s stopping between 9:00 and 9:30. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Holy kabolie it COLD OUT HERE!!!!!!!!! Geez Louise! They have to be hungry, there's an oak to my rt, bunches of bushes lots of clover grasses and weeds. Plus this is a travel route from lower area to the sanctuary above. Lower area is the oak flats and chestnuts 1 hour to go
Dear Lord age! Chicory, that's the name of the weed in my plots it's wild Chicory. We have a ton of it it's invasive here and critters love it. Took me long enough to remember. Lol
So literal to last minute, started snowing heavier and it was difficult to see the bead at end of barrel....deer, no show Oh at least the soup was a big hit
Never had it before. Very painful. The hospital is trying to get me in order so I can have my gall bladder out.
My work buddy had a gall bladder infection. Poor guy was in terrible pain. We showed up at the hospital in uniform but that wasn't enough to keep him from cursing us out each time we made him laugh and rive in pain.
MIL had her gall bladder taken out. Greasy foods were giving her trouble leading up to it, turned out she had a bunch of stones too. Once you have it taken out and you get healed up from surgery you should feel better assuming you also had some symptoms building too.
Going to be the coldest yet tomorrow morning, I have the day off and will be bow hunting during the MD rifle season!!
Coffee down and headed out. Currently it's 18 degrees and the high today is calling for 29 degrees. I'm hoping the cold front has them moving. Good luck if you're out this morning.
All set up… cold as heck with almost no wind. Bumped two bedded right here where I set up. They didn’t bust out or anything just milled around. I made sooo much noise setting up. I’ll consider myself very lucky to catch a glimpse of a deer here this morning
Anybody out has my respect this morning. It's a whopping 5° here in the Hooooooosier state. Sent from my SM-S916U1 using Tapatalk
I saw 3 deer moving before daylight. They really stick out with this snow on the ground. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
