ah, this is a conversation best had over camp fire and beers. That said, love my wife with all my heart. Just wish she was quieter and less stabby.
the old arguement. Michigan is similar...2 buck state with few APR zones. Tradition of preference to shoot anything with bone (even spikes) over does. I hate that. I wish it was a 1 buck/1 doe state, must fill both before you get another APR buck tag. Damn near every hunter I know pops whatever little buck first then horn hunts only after that with no thought toward taking a doe.
What a great start to this morning. I forgot how much I enjoyed hunting in the snow. I can see so much farther and earlier. The rut is still in action. I could see chasing far out near the swamp. Good luck if you’re out this morning. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Absolutly beautiful cold winter weather is here for a predicted 4 days. Low winds no or little precip.. Full moon is going to have me taking slow walks and mid morning sits.. giving me a chance to check movement through snow prints. Thankfully a heating pad and immediate ibuprofen after shoveling has me able to move this morning....lol
What little snow we got here is all but gone. It’s a cold, frosty, crunchy morning. I’m set up waiting on daylight. Good luck folks!
It doesnt work if you have online deer check in. Maryland did this for awhile, took a few years to realize the problem. The way they did it was you get 1 buck tag. Then have to shoot 2 does to get your 2nd buck tag. So what people would do was what was called ghost checking doe's. Just check in 2 does even though they didn't shoot any. Then all it does is screw up there harvest numbers ever year. No way to regulate it unless you have a physical check in station. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
No deer are killed in this way… Need to get you some heated gear like LC…worst case there are Christmas list items for next year. I get creative in how I subsidize my hunting addiction: Recognition award at work-gift cards; Heath activity points the company thinks they are bribing us with to try to keep insurance costs down-gift cards; Travel points (from my consulting days)-well that’s vacations…and gift cards; EOY bonus-hunting license(s) and usually some project that’s been on the back burner Blood drives-gift cards; Birthday/Christmas/Fathers day-here’s my list…or gift cards.
Looks like it’s going to be a typical full moon morning sit. The only life forms I’ve seen have been woodpeckers. Nothing else id moving. Yet.
They’re definitely feeding here. Mostly around the bases of oak trees. They’re pawing the snow for acorns. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I agree, a physical check station would not bother me in the least, especially for the permit draw hunts. I get it being a logistical nightmare for the entire season. But, when a permit hunt is only three days, it can be done.
Most younger guys have never did in person check-in's. They don't understand everything that went with it. It was great to go hang out there and see all the deer coming in and hear the stories. That really added to the whole hunting culture and experience. I know this way will never come back but I also think all this online check-in system leaves a lot of room for fraud and abuse Sent from my SM-S916U1 using Tapatalk
