Headed out. 32 degrees and 8 - 10 mph WNW winds. That's good winds for this spot. Good luck if you're headed out this morning.
good luck Dmax4me and everyone else that is going out today. ill be headed out at nine boom stick Doe Patrol
After I drop my son off I might head out. Looking forward to Wednesday if we get the snow that’s predicted Tuesday. I’d love to walk around the woods with 7 inches of snow.
Man, I got pretty excited there for a couple of minutes. I saw what looked like a good racked buck coming out of the swamp. It was about 150 yards away and I couldn’t make it out with my crossbow scope. I grabbed my rifle and turned up the power and looked at it. Turned out to be that 2.5 year old, should be a 9 point. It at least got the heart beating fast for a while. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’ve been in my tree since 45 minutes before first light. It’s pretty cold here. 22 degrees with a wind chill of 14. Nothing has moved yet but I’m hopeful.
Nothing so far. Grounds covered with snow on the hill top. I dressed for waking not sitting but now I wish I brought a coat. Sweatshirt and vest gets chilly quick when you want to stop and sit for a bit.
At Dr. for follow up visit. Now might do an MRI, possibly torn cartilage or tendon. Fracture ia healed but where pain is and movement restricted thinks more is going on. Lovely
Well, sadly my season has come to an end. It was a great one by my standards, aside of the fact that I sat 215 hours on stand to see 44 deer (15 bucks and 19 doe), which means I had to sit for 4.89 hours to see one deer. Like I mentioned a while back, my woods are nothing at all like they once were. I had numerous deer within bow range. but I was after this big 8pt ONLY. I had him at 20 yrds, but never had a clear shot. I was lucky to be able to watch him for about 10 mins or so while he tended a doe. Never in all my years did I have a buck get me as rattled as this buck did. I was shaking almost uncontrollably and my heart was pounding so bad I could feel it! I don't know for sure, but I do believe this buck will make it through until next year. He obviously knows where to go to be safe to get to this size. It certainly gives me something to look forward to!
I bumped one deer walking out. Drove to another spot I’ll be hunting from a blind the rest of the evening. Should have went home and grabbed a coat but didn’t want to get in any later. Got the heat and seat warmers on full blast.
Back up for the afternoon. Hopefully, something different gets pushed in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Big storm front coming in after midnight ,set up in garden blind. Good luck All. I put my buck glands and bladder in a green mesh bag and hung it ,see pic. Frozen still stunk to high heaven the plastic bag it was in is also hanging but closer.
I’m starving if I had anything I wouldn’t be sharing, can’t wait to get home and have something to eat.
