Figured as much, only electric I use is the handwarmers. Still buy the same amount of chemical warmers though, but a case generally lasts me 2 years, sometimes 3. My heated hoodie turned into a work coat and will never be descented for hunting

The only thing I saw this morning was the coyote that spooked the deer that were coming to me. I could hear the deer coming and was all ready when I heard them take off running. Then I heard the coyote coming.

I don’t usually shoot coyotes here but I’d have made an exception for that one if I had gotten a shot.

I did some scouting mid-day and I’ll be heading back out in about an hour.

Finally back out hunting, once I got to the base of the tree I had a big one walking by about 60yds. I hunkered down and then got my stand set, just nice to see one I want to kill. Hunting one of my favorite trees, first time this year. When the wind was good I couldn’t hunt. Hopefully he comes back through, hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. Gun season starts Tomorrow, would be nice to tag out tonight.

I’m back up in the same tree. I’ll have to bring my gear out with me this evening. It’s supposed to rain and snow all day tomorrow.

Looked out the kitchen window at 4pm a busted up 8pt with a doe feeding in the high winds. They didn’t stay long he pushed her back up in the thick stuff.

Saw a handful of deer, was a fun sit. Still waiting for the one to show up! I’ll be out tomorrow with my bow and orange on.

I must be growing up finally. I let a smaller 8 point I'd normally shoot walk by at 20 yards this afternoon. After seeing the big 8 on camera in the same spot a few days ago I just couldn't launch an arrow at him. I heard him coming for a long time. When he finally showed himself I put the bow down and pulled out my phone and shot some video.

I don't remember if I posted a pic of the bigger 8 point I got on camera here on the forums. He's no giant, but for here in the Ozarks he's a heck of an 8 point.

On another camera I got a pic of the biggest six point I've ever seen on property I'm hunting.

It really is, it’s hard to hunt bc the wind swirls. Need a steady west. I’ll prob hit it after gun season. Deer pile up in the thickets that surround it. The tree is a big 3 trunker, I can do a jig up there and not get busted haha.

That is the best feeling when you are in a good spot and you have that confidence of not being seen. Ain't easy to accomplish both.

Had 3 Doe come in at last light. Shot was spot on and the Doe ducked the arrow at 18yds. I thought for sure she was a dead deer but there was no blood. And I mean no blood. So I rewatched the video and she is completely in frame and she ducks so low that all you can see is her ear tips in the video. Arrow was clean. Amazing how fast they can duck in .14 seconds.

That really does show maturity (has nothing to do with age) as a hunter. Being selective like that is proof of it.
I did the same thing this season four times with the same buck, by letting him walk. Had him at 20 yrds or less each time. I wouldn't have thought twice about killing this buck just four or five years ago. I showed video of him to a few other hunters in my area, and all three said they wouldn't have let that buck walk.

I find it just as satisfying getting video (iPhone) of a legal buck in close range as I do killing him. Maybe more so. IMO Knowing you could have easily killed one and didn't is fulfilling. Plus, it keeps you in the game!

Good for you! You got a good target buck and you're holding out. Sooner or later, you will see him.

I'm losing my edge as I age

Got everything ready to go hunting in the morning and am chickening out at the last minute. Supposed to get 5-9" of anow tomorrow and really wanted to get in a snow hunt, and even moreso would have been my first hunt to boot. Everything currently pointing to being on the high end if that total, with even more as you go north and northwest. Would be driving about 55 minutes northwest to hunt. With my luck as it is I just can't do it and end up off the road in the middle of nowhere potentially without cell service.

Next weekend ia 2nd shotgun season. Go back to Dr. Monday to get new X-rays and my 4 week follow up. Still pretty sore without the soft cast on, see what happens I guess.

went back into the marshes again .. had two nice bucks at separate times come by, but not where they were suppose to (of course), they went thru the marsh grass, one at 30 yds, the other 34yds but with both there was waaaay to much junk in the way for a shot ... saw a couple of does also 95 yds out ... and thousands of gooney birds ..... watching the weather for Sat., not sure if I'll even try with the snow starting early in the AM, still saying 5-10 inches .....

Good morning LFTS! Coffee going down. Currently, 28 degrees with a high of 40 degrees and NW winds. Should be a great day. Good luck if you're going out this morning.

I don't think any hunting for me today. We got a winter storm warning today with 5-8 inches forecast. We'll see
