I'll never stop buying hot hands, they're 99% effective. Only a few times over the years have I gotten a few duds. Chinese elctronics on the other hand, especially in the cold when I'm depending on them......
Just got done bagging leaves and clearing the driveway for the snowblower. I drove by the lake property again this morning, didn't even care if someone was hunting or not I wanted to see the canopy. Most of the leaves are down, but man is the perimeter thick and nasty around the entire thing, hopefully it's just the edges where it gets more sunlight. Would be practically unhuntable if it's just a huge bedding area and cannot hunt the edges for the most part.
I know you can't hunt it until December but is there anything stating that you can't take a walk and do some scouting if there is no one on the property?
I wouldn't be without these GRABBER hand warmers, since they are the only thing that keep me on stand in the cold weather (Raynauds/white finger syndrome). They last the entire day and I've very rarely had one not work. They are very lightweight, take up almost no room at all, and sometimes get so hot I have to take my hands off them. No lie. They're 100% effective.
Yes, implicitly states no scouting can be done until the first day of the hunting period. Corn was on the east side of the road where I have seen most of the deer in that area. Seen a few on the huntable side, but not once did I see any in either standing or cut beans that abuts the southern edge. Both corn and beans have been chisel plowed. Looked like a lot of browse on those thick edges though. With any luck, this snow coming will still be around and I'll have a little better intel from the get go. Bad part about it is entry in the morning will likely be like a heard of elephants.
Some of you might remember I had a post about a knife I lost. Well it fell out of my sneaker today. No clue how it ended up in there. Almost like an act of God. I’m just thankful it showed back up.
You need some smaller shoes, no way I could have walked around and not felt that in there. Glad you found it, not a better feeling than finding something feared lost in the weirdest location.
Yes ,yes we sure did. Talked, laughed, played several different games with the grandsons and ate like kings. Even the travel was great. Low traffic and no snow until we reached our hill. Even the salt truck seemed to wait until we were half way down the drive, perfect!
I think it was right around 30. Usually doesn’t bother me too bad, but I froze my butt off this morning.
Ended up only seeing the two little bucks from the stand. Checked out some bedding before I left for the day and ran into a bunch of does. I knew there would be some in there, but didn’t set up there this morning because I wasn’t sure of the exact tree I needed to be in. Oh well, I won’t be hunting again until next weekend. Gonna spend the rest of the holiday weekend doing stuff with the kid.
I wise it was 30 this morning. It warmed up to 30 around 8:30-9am…but while I was freezing my ass off in the stands and seeing nothing, my wife sends me a video of a unicorn in the backyard at home…more than I saw today.
I should have added that I’ll always have a couple of body warmers and a set of toe warmers in my pocket just in case.
