Happy Thanksgiving to my LFTS brothers and sisters. May the food and fellowship with your families be delicious and pleasant.
Update on my son’s buck. We are not going to track. Through a friend of @Jezzy670, I received pictures of the buck walking at 5:16 am, 12 hours after the shot several hundred yards west of where he shot it. The shot is in the back hip and the arrow appears to be stuck in the leg bone. Deer appears to be moving fine and probably won’t die unless coyotes run it down or infection happens. We will have to call this one a hard lesson learned: get higher in the tree when there is no cover, and don’t try to draw and shoot when the deer is looking at you. It had enough time to spin and make it a bad shot.
The bad shot is unfortunate, but there's a decent chance that buck can survive. Their ability to survive injury is mind boggling.
I'm guessing that arrow is just out of his reach to pull it out, or he would have done that by now? I've heard of deer doing this.
Happy Thanksgiving everybody. And thank you all for the kind comments on the buck. I’m still on cloud 9 from yesterday afternoon. It’s been a tough season for me so far, so it was a very welcome opportunity yesterday.
I 2nd this! Happy Thanksgiving to the LFTS crew. Congrats on the awesome buck Jake. Sorry to hear about the kids hunting cantexian. Sounds like both deer have a good chance to survive. Congrats to all the other killers out there that I missed.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Son, wife, and I will be out tomorrow. Going to put them in a blind and I’m going to do some still hunting with the caplock.
Maybe. I am pretty sure the broadhead is in the bone and has it anchored or it would have worked loose while he was running.
Happy Thanksgiving! I'm in NJ!! I'll be out tomorrow with Sara, sitting a ground blind. First time hunting in NJ this year, super excited. Don't have any pics from the last month cause the camera went dead, but batteries have been changed. See everyone out there in the AM.
