Yep. There are some spots here I can hunt where I can see them coming, but with gun season in full swing they're sticking to cover. The spot I was in is so thick that I wouldn't be able to see them beyond 40 yards. You're really depending on knowing the travel patterns hunting cover like this. Unfortunately for me, I didn't know the travel patterns. Actually, I've figured out that this is a morning spot and I expect deer to come to me on my right side in the morning. They may not, but all I can do is try.
Ended up seeing 6 does tonight. The SIL played tag in the blind tonight with a nesting mouse that was in the little cooler pocket on the arm of the camp chair. He said he about tore the blind down when it crawled up his arm trying to shake it off.
It was such an awesome night! The boys did great and sat almost still for most of the night. We shot the doe at 4:40 and shot the buck at 5:35. Couldn’t have asked for a better way to tag out on bucks.
We can get 2 buck tags and 10 doe tags for the regular seasons through January 1, then there is a late doe season and I believe we can buy 5 extra tags but don’t quote me on the last tags.
Thank you guys I really appreciate it, it’s been a heck of a year so far! I’ve got 2 doe tags left to fill and that’ll be a wrap on the season unless I but a couple more tags for the late antlerless season. I’ll be sleeping in tomorrow, as always good luck in the AM killers!
I’m in my stand. Have to give credit to my wife. I wanted to sleep in but she dragged me out of bed and said get out there because when you don’t go you regret it. So here I am. Late but here.
Mitch is the Covid of deer … congratulations again and those pictures with the kids are priceless! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Congratulations on the double Mitch! Glad you got to enjoy it with your boys. I’m up for the morning. I think I ran everything out of here on the way in. I rarely ever hunt this spot in the morning because it’s so close to the bedding. Not expecting much after that fiasco. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
