Nice that you're still seeing some rutting activity in Pa, because it has come to a screeching halt in my woods.
I did see one big lone doe this evening though.

At 68, I'm right there with you! For twenty years I used to hunt off a pipeline a mile uphill from the parking area. Three years ago I realized it's just too much for me to hike that distance with my climber anymore. I hunt much closer to the road now and leave my stand locked to my tree. It gets down to accepting that certain things you could do before, you can't do now. It is a bit scary.

When it comes to hunting, I know the feeling!! Then I bought a Bakcou Storm, thanks Johnny, here comes the public ground chasing now.

My buddy and I lost the leases we had, in town, due to developments and in-laws passing away. We’re neither interested nor willing to pay for these crazy lease prices that people want for mediocre ground, so public ground it is. As you know Brett, there’s a ton of it in Missouri!!

This is really the first year I pushed into hill country outside of the city. Four hunts in a row I had good bucks in range in late Oct into early Nov. A lot better terrain and less pressure during bow season.

Yes, it’s much easier to get outta town on the KC side than the St. Louis side, that east side is so damn big!!

I am staring 50 in the face and I hunted hard AF this season- I am beat.
I have had a few years where i got banged up or whatever, but this season there was more than one sit where on the walk in or out I was like - WTF, this sucks.

Made up my mind that next year if I am whupped it's because I am legit hurt rather than just being closer to dirt.

oh, I was able to hunt tonight, had my Ruger .44 semiauto carbine with me, saw maybe 15 deer incuding a doe within range but she was ratty and TBH I am really just looking for something 150 or more at this point.

    Be out in the AM

    GL everyone.

Rain showers on and off this morning until 7. Should be nice and quiet to get to my stand. I haven’t hunted it in over a week hoping it settled back down from when I shot that buck I couldn’t find. Good luck this morning.

Been here a while. Swirling wine earlier seems to have stabilized 10kt from the S where my neighbor has some lambs clearing and a burn going (eek) and gusts to 20. In an oak still holding leaves so motion sickness and the smoke is gonna make for an interesting day.

Overcast and sprinkles overnight. With the bow.

    Let’s go!

I’m not the only fool out in the rain, hearing a few shots in the distance.
