Giving it until noon then heading home for lunch. Might come back to the same spot for the evening. Nothing since that flurry around 930.

There's an old family cemetery from the 1800's in the state park I hunt, that was once their land long ago. A common theme I noticed on most of the grave stones was how young most of the departed were. Life expectancy was much shorter back then.

The catch 22 of hunting. If you listen to weather forecasters they'll be wrong. If you don't listen to them they'll be right.

I'm thinking rain isn't going to be an issue tomorrow by looking at all of the models. I'm half tempted to just get up and go, don't even look at the radar to persuade/disuade me. If I do that, I just won't cross any of them low lying shallow creeks

Finished processing. Had 10 lb of backstraps and tenderloin. Got 48 1/4 lb bacon burgers.

    Finished product.

Just moved, had a great sit this morning until about noon. Saw about 13 deer, with only one doe of them. Some were the same but I would bet maybe 10 different bucks. Finally had a mature deer, he is only a 4 point, but I would have shot him if he would have given me a shot. This is the guy 25110618492201000881_ColorizationType.none.jpeg

That answers it, wasn't sure from the first pic whether you were hunting or fishing today.

Guess you could find a good tree right on the bank and do both

Never tried it, but I have a tree where I could do that when the water is at normal levels. Right now, the creek is so low it wouldn't be possible.

Been in the stand since 2. Can only sit till 4. So far nothing seen. Pretty much how all my sits have been since October. The deer are totally nocturnal. Only good news is the peak of the rut in VT is usually around November 20. So any day to sit in a tree is a good day.

One fawn being chased by a spike, followed by another fawn. That’s it all day.
Rain finally stopped, for now, that might trigger some activity

Got out of work early enough to sit down shortly after 3.

Sure hope some does come out close enough to shoot.

My bacon burger recipe is 3 lbs of venison burger, 1 lbs of ground up bacon, 1 Tablespoon Lawrys season salt, 2 diced jalapeños...used to add shredded cheddar, but it burns too easily, so now add a slice upon completion.

If you haven't tried cream cheese mixed with pepper jelly on a burger....it is amore!

Literally my wife was telling me about the pepper jelly on a burger last night. Bacon jelly (sometimes in Trader Joe’s) also real good!
