I think you'll like the way the bacon grind goes with it being frozen. Not a big greasy mess.

I've never heard of bacon burgers, is it as simple as adding bacon slices when you grind up the venison? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

Yep. I try and use 10-15% bacon. Freezing bacon in 4-6 strips makes it grind better. Usually just grind course grind on venison and bacon first grind. Combind and re-grind finer grind for finished product.

IMG_2367.jpeg IMG_2368.jpeg I’m in. It’s been pouring rain since I got here. Usually I would sit out here with the rain gear on but I brought the tree umbrella today and I must say this thing is pretty awesome.
It’s supposed to rain on and off all day so I don’t have high hopes but I’m gonna chill out here all morning.
Good luck, let’s kill some stuff

Finally saw a buck. It was that little 7 point with a droptine that I saw yesterday. He was pushing does.

I buy left over burnt ends to grind with my venison. My mechanic turned me onto it. There’s a store near by that sells it for like a dollars a lb. The stuff looks edible right out of the box bits it’s just the trimmings. Great smokey flavor.

Got in about 820 would have been 745 but I left my license home so had to run back and get after I dropped my son off at school. Some of you might have seen this view before. Buck only. Good luck out there. 5E1E90FD-0232-418B-A6FC-41A82E773D1F.jpeg

I add 8oz cheddar and a pound of bacon to 10lbs venison and grind it all together to make venison bacon cheddar burgers. It's very good. Add more cheese or bacon to fit your taste. The burgers are the rave of the Summer BBQ season.

Found a family cemetery near an old homestead near where I hunt. Most of them headstones too worn, but a couple are clear…[IMG]

Heading up to MI tomorrow, doubt I'll be in time to hunt the evening but will be out Sat AM. Weather very mild and no precip. Should be a good weekend long as the Orange Army don't shoot me.

Good Luck to all you KILLers.

Doe just flew by with 2 bucks in tow. I am hoping her trail will attract more suitors.

Nice! I'm hoping to see something similar when I go in for an evening hunt.

Good luck out there killers and congrat to anyone I've missed.
Not out today warm weather has started again and I still have 2 hams to cut up. Freezers and fridges are at capacity right now. Dang I apparently got way more meat off my spring turkeys than I thought. I did get the neck deboned and slow cooked which gave me lots of pulled meat and great broth. I found a huge bag of sliced onions in freezer and that broth with a bit of wine and sauteed onions has a beautiful pot of french onion soup on the stove as I type. We've enjoyed the straps, loins and shoulders got me several packs of goodness in freezers so far. Cams and walk still have zero deer and just one fox and one raccoon walk through.
