Got the doe all ground up and made into patties. Close 60 big ones. It was 6hrs battle but worth it. I’ll be out in the morning.

was just talking about that with my cousin today-

Just anecdotal from my hunting main hunting areas in 2 Great Lake states that are very similar in terrain, population density, and weather:

Your Oct 25 - Nov 7 timeframe is normal in mid WI and mid MI, but this year both experienced a very slow start to the rut. Very little cruising/fighting/chasing until after November 7, peaking this past weekend. We both shot bucks this weekend chasing does, and other than me, all my hunting buddies saw a lot of full on rut this past weekend, multiple active chases, grunting, the whole 9 yards.

October had no typical pre-rut action. Dead zone from mid-month on except does and the occasional early AM or right at dusk lone buck trying to get from A to B.

These are the sum of me and my hunting parties' 2025 observations, deer camp conversations, and camera sharing.
    ..............

I'll be back on stand this coming weekend in MI, probably my last hunt(s) for 2025 esp. if I drop one.

I’m up on stand. Fortunately, the rain stopped before daylight. Head is going to be on a swivel because I sure won’t hear them coming. Good luck if you’re out.

Deer are definitely moving. I saw 4 does, 2 fawns and a 5 point. My wife just texted me and said there were 2 bucks fighting behind the high school when she was dropping off my granddaughter.

Checking in. Beautiful dark, wet morning. I was running late, but got in the stand right at sunrise.
I’m in an old ladder stand right on the edge of thick, nasty woods. i’ve killed a bunch of deer out of the stand over the years, but haven’t been here in a while.
Feels good out here people, good luck!!

I was out yesterday night , I was in a good size finger of woods between to fields. Field I was closer to had unpicked soybeans I saw 4 deer. Couldn’t tell what they were so thick in there I had to be on the ground , no trees to climb more than 4-6 feet up. They were all headed to the already picked soybeans field.

when I exited I had one deer in the soybeans 200 yards north of me. I got to the top of the finger and looked in the picked field and I counted. 35 deer.
WTH- Why was I wrong at picking the side

south wind. Fields were north of the finger I was in.

I was back in this morning. 3 deer so far all 45-55 yards

Wow, that was cool. I had a lone doe cautiously coming in and a minute later I see a 6 point on her trail. 100 yards behind him was a 7 point with a 3” droptine. He caught up with that doe and chased her back in the swamp. Hopefully, something bigger follows her trail.

What a great day to be out in God’s creation. I had a 2.5 year old 9 point and a 3 point follow that does trail. I hate to leave but I told my dad I would be over to help him this morning.
