I’m in tree for last couple hours with the slug gun. Freezing rain this morning and light mist most of the day but starting to let up. Good luck to those that are out.
Well, my granddaughter got her chance last evening. I rushed home from Ohio to get her out in time since the bucks were pretty hot here in PA when I left last Friday. It came by around 4:30 at 20 yards but never stopped to give her a shot. About 10 minutes before last light 2 fawns came in, and he was following them. He gave her a semi quartering too shot. It mule kicked and took off. We gave it 30 minutes before we went and looked at impact spot. I didn't trail it very far when I told her the blood is really dark, and it has gut matter in it. I told her we would push it if we continued. I waited until after my morning hunt to go look for it. It only when about 110 yards. Unfortunately, the coyotes must have found it last night. They ate a good bit of the hind quarters. She ended up hitting one lung, the liver and it came out low hitting the gut. I'm still very proud of her. This is her 7th archery buck and she's 16. This is the buck I passed last Wednesday hoping to be able to get her on it. Her 3rd sit got it done.
That's a really great 8pt right there! Congrats to her! Her bowhunting accomplishments at that age are really something.
Well, rain moved in on me and I bailed. Lucky I got out just before it got heavy. I neglected to check the radar before going in, or I wouldn't have. I really hate missing that last golden hour. At least I don't have to dry all my stuff before my next sit.
Yeah, I’ve told her that I was in my mid-30’s before I ever got a buck that big. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’ve seen a spike and a fawn so far. It’s supposed to start raining shortly after dark. I was thinking it should have them on their feet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Been a nasty day all day long. Hard rain, thunder showers and even some hail. Think im going to slip out to the corn field tomorrow evening for the last couple hours and see what shows up.
Went to a chiropractor for the first time in over twenty years. I should have done that before hunting season. And I will before every hunting season here out.
