First time falling asleep after turning my alarm off all season. Thankfully it wasn’t hours and only 45 minutes. Get in a little late but that’s ok. Don’t need to sit in the dark for an hour anyway.

17 mph sustained winds. Hunting from the ground and the wind is actually going over top of me. There was a deer bedded by my blind that took off… got the .30-06 today

good luck everybody and stay safe!

Heard neighbor shot a good one. Thought it may be the big 8. Then I woke up and saw this. Head pounding. Too many cocktails last night. I’m up and getting in shower. Better late than never I guess. IMG_1166.jpeg

3 bucks spotted so far. 2 little fellas and one decent buck that never got closer than about 80. 4870.jpg

I just shot a coyote. I first saw it at 70 yards just sitting on the field edge. I watched him for a couple minutes and then he started running straight towards me and stopped at 30. I launched one and he spun in circles and went about 100 yards when I lost sight of him. Unfortunately, he’s upwind which probably ruined my deer sightings.

We went back to the house and had dinner and talked. Sounds like he wants to try it again. Hes just limited on time and will be hard for him to learn these properties. Hes in the boat were he needs to do very minimal hunts and be able to get a few deer a year. Which makes sence for a meat hunter. But he's definitely intrigued about big bucks. I showed him my rack collection and told him the different public land properties they came off. If he was paying attention, he would easily figure out which properties are best for bucks.

I just had 5 Longbeards come by at 30 yards. To bad season is over for them.

I dont know about your area Tony, but we had a heck of a rip roarer come through last night. It got strangly warm after the early lightening storms then after midnight temps dropped like a rock and winds went crazy with pounding rain that woke me up. We are under a wind advisory and lights are blinking

Good luck and stay safe guys.

Exactly the same as you, Chris. The thunder and lightning and the pouring rain made us have to quit at 2 o’clock yesterday.

Seen about 30 deer on the drive to that property. Only 2 confirmed with antlers, spike/forks, and 7 too far to be discernible. No one hunting 1st day of new 2 week period.
