And cue Mother Nature, looking like a good rain event heading into next weekend. Can use the rain I guess, even though not much is growing, still have drought and fire conditions around here. Either way, it would make my mind up for me and shotgun would be the weapon required. Not going to try muzzleloader in potentially wet conditions.
This jacket aint expensive and it keeps you warm into the upper 30s. Add a lightweight camo jacket shell and it will be comfortable into the mid 30's. A lot of good pockets and a hoody that keeps the sun out of your face and head warm.
Found him... he is bedded on the other end of the slew in a grassy spot by the river bank. Same buck I saw earlier
Nothing for me this morning. Didn't see a deer. On my walk though, I found a stand that I forgot I still had set up. Up on the hill between 2 logging roads. Wouldn't you know a single set of large tracks went directly underneath the stand and headed down the hill to my food plot. So he went through sometime yesterday evening or overnight. I'm gonna have to hunt that in the afternoons during rifle season.
Pretty sure blinded from last season to this one. That eye is dark in every Pic this season, never last year. His rack had more mass but less spread last year. Body bigger this year.
Just got back online after an outage. Too many missed posts to go back and read. Congrats to those who killed one during my absence. I didn't see anything yesterday, after sitting from noon until dark, but I'm headed to the woods soon for the rest of the day. It ain't over til the fat lady sings!
Thanks everyone. He’s cut up and in a cooler. I was going to go back there this afternoon but I think I’ll have my brother go over there and I’ll move somewhere else to try to knock a doe down with my 45-70.
100 yards from where I almost hit the doe this morning, there was a dead doe coming home. She had a death wish.
